meguiars DACP

i'm trying this thread for a second time. the first time it either got deleted, moved, or something, cause i cannot find it.

i have a gm navy blue metallic 2000 camaro. i use nxt on it, and it looks good most of the time. nighttime street lamp reflections or sunlight reflections have many spider webs and scratches.

i would like to purchase DACP and then just use nxt over that and hope that fixes all of my problems. i am concerned with where to buy my terry cloths? and if wal-mart MF towels are ok to use? i would prefer local purchases, since i know i'll never order anything.

i don't garage my car, and it is a daily driver, so i'm not looking for perfection. but i think DACP with nxt will be impressive enough and will suffice for me. i don't want to worry with the DACP though - i've heard some people have really scratched or messed up their car with this stuff, and i'm wondering just how probable that is?

can anyone give me some pointers without deleting my thread?

About the deleting part, all of our threads got deleted....there was a power failure or something and everything from 5/3 got restored.

Anyways, I'm still learning as much as I can about this, and I'm sure someone will tell you to start with something like DACP, then move down to something less harsh, then do the NXT....

Good luck,

-Matt

oh awesome, thanks for the tip. i thought, "surely i didn't piss anyone off, it was only my first post!"

anyway, i've read about some people having issues with the DACP and it marring their paint pretty badly. i'm just wondering, since i have no background with this stuff, how likely it is that i will hurt my paint? i've read about how scottwax uses this, and i will follow his technique. still though, i'm worried about it, haha...

i'm also concerned for where to get cloths, and what kinds to use when doing what? i know the terry cloth folding for putting DACP on, but use what to take it off? yeah... thanks so far!

If you are new to using something like DACP I'd also suggest maybe going for on of the Poorboy's SSR's, SSR 2 seems close to DACP but I've found that the SSR's are easier to work with and you don't have to work them so hard to get results from them, and you don't have to break them down so much so that they aren't a potential pain to remove... Just a thought.

Sorry, I know your question was about DACP but when I first started using it I really wasn't that impressed no matter how I used it... Despite how popular it is with everyone else.

Cheers :).

I never start with the most aggressive product / pad first. If you are dealing with swirls / spider webbing try something less agressive first like Menzerna FP and a small area first. If you are happy with it, then finish the vehicle.

Only go agressive if you need it!

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

If you decide to go with MEGS DACP (like most products there is a learning curve, but the results are worthwhile)

I use them in this order-

#83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish, W-8006 pad, speed 5-6 (work product until it becomes a fine dust)

#82 Swirl Free Polish: Speed 5-6

#9 Swirl Remover (polish)

You can use the higher speed settings for the dual action polisher but remember that Meguiar’s foam pads and the backing plates are not really intended for use over the 5.0 setting, (and even this is pushing it). So use at your own risk, higher settings create a lot of heat between the backing plate and the foam pad and you may experience pad failure.

Always use the least aggressive product first and then if necessary ‘step-up’ to the more aggressive

~Hope this helps~
