ok, most people have said you can use #7 or #81, as the same step right? well the steps should be, polish, glaze, seal, wax, right? #7 shows as a "glaze" in the meguiars book, and #81 shows as a "polish"

I'll let a real #7/#81 expert tackle this one (there are plenty of 'em around here- paging Mike Phillips!), but I WILL point out that #7 was previously called "Sealer and Reseal Glaze". How's that for further muddying the waters

Meguiar's IS kind of confusing with their interchangeable jargon. On my Harvest Gold '01 Duratec Taurus, I used the following:

Are there some redundant steps in there? Perhaps. But hey, it's my own car, and I like to perform 'detailing overkill'. I will say that after the second layer of #26, the surface of the car looked like someone had poured honey on it. Incredible depth and gloss!

#7 and #81 are both non-abrasive polishes and perform the same function. #7 tends to work better and apply and remove easier from single-stage paints, while #81 tends to work better and apply and remove easier from clear coat paints.
#7 Show Car Glaze came out in either the late 1920's, or the very early 1930's.
After claying, and then cleaning your paint, (if these steps are needed), apply a polish, such as #7 or #81 and then apply a wax or paint protectant over the polish.
Here is a very rare and early 1/2 gallon jug of Sealer and Reseal Glaze.
Note: Bottles with Mirror Bright were manufactured before World War II, and bottles with Mirror Glaze were manufactured after World War II
Of course, I collect old Meguiar's bottles so if anyone has any and would like to see their old bottle go to a good home and growing collection, please contact me.

#7 i thought was a glaze, #9 was a polish. Oh well, im confused.

The label on the Mirror Bright bottle says it was a preserver, was their some wax in it , how often did they say to apply it , and didnt they make a cleaner wax called 1-16-c
