Meguiar's Cleaner Wax

I am new to detailing and have some Meguiar's Cleaner Wax that I had purchased a few month's back. I used it this morning

on my '99 Pathfinder (black) and the results look pretty good ...not the best...but pretty good.

Anyway, I seem to recall a few people in this forum were not too keen on this product when I was browsing a week or so ago and I was wondering why. Is this meant to be a prep coat to be topped with a finish coat of another type of wax for best results?

Also, I used Meguiar's Endurance (purple stuff) and that greatly improved the looks of my tires. What do you folks think of that product as well?

Both Meguiar's consumer Cleaner Wax and Endurance (light purple cream) are decent products. They are not the best (lots of products better than Meguiar's Cleaner Wax in terms of shine and durability and I like Turtle Wax 2001 Tire Gel better than Endurance for gels anyway) but are better than some.

To get the best results, make sure the paint is almost perfect before putting on a polymer sealant (daily driver) or wax (garage queen.) This includes removing all the paint contaminents, swirls, light scratches, and other sutff that gets onto the paint.

To preserve this "perfect" finish, use a polymer sealant or wax, or both.

For tire, Clean them thoroughly with a tire scrubbing brush and strong cleaner. Then dress with a tire/rubber dressing. It is very important to clean the tire and let it dry before applying the Endurance product. It doesn't have any cleaner's in it and seems to have better results when the tires are clean.

I have used meguiar's cleaner wax on a few cars. The stuff seems to do a pretty good job of cleaning up the paint but doesnt seem to last more than a month. I would switch to a polymer or a higher quality carnauba.

I'm using Meguiar's Cleaner Wax now. To make it tougher, I top it up with Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. Now this sealant extends wax life up to 4 months. Not a bad paint cleaner and it's very creamy...
