new to the forum-- got a quick question about the swirl remover from meguiars-i just recieved a gallon of the stuff- and was wondering how well it performs as a polish? do any of you use it for light cutting? thanks

The #9 2.0 I have works excellent by hand. It is very easy to use and leaves the paint very rich and glossy. My feeling is that it is quite fine and may take more than one application to remove fine scratches. A great example would be the imperfections underneath the door handle (it probably won't remove these completely). After one application, most of my swirls were gone and minor scratches were less visible. The hard lines of scratches are rounded off basically. I believe it also has some fillers. I followed with #7 which is a glaze. The two together were excellent. However, the fillers obviously didn't last too long.

#9 is pretty good stuff, but Meguiars has something even better-Swirl Free Polish from their Body Shop Pro line, and despite the name, it isn't just meant for new paint. I use it on nearly every car that needs more than just a glaze. It does a great job on swirls and has lots of oils to make the paint look wet.
