Meguiars #80 speed glaze

Hi guys,

Can #80 be used to remove swirls and light scratches? Understand that the abrasives in #80 breaks down to polish the paint as well.

I'm planning a #80 + wax combo to remove the imperfections and protect the paint.

Any comments?

Thanks :)

I have used gallons and gallons of speed glaze for that exact purpose. I use it on almost EVERY detail that I do. On light to moderate swirls, it is great. #80 is one of those products that I never allow myself to run out of.

If you plan on using it via rotary it will cut really fast so be careful.

Sounds like what I might be looking for, '03 Expedition with light swirls and scratches. Does it work good with a PC and if so what pad to use, orange cutting or white polishing. Also look at using AIO, SGX3 and possibly WG as a final coat. Any recommendations. The paint is a strawberry clearcoat. TIA

I too must throw in my recommendation of #80 Speed Glaze. If you use it make sure you work it until it is completely broken down, liquid to dry. What I like about it is that it does not splatter as bad as some other products, starts out semi-aggressive and breaks down into polish.

Cheers,

Eric

Same here. I've said it before and I'll say it again, #80 Speed Glaze is the new hotness. ;)

I just used #80 today on my black car. Have used previously on my wife's blue sunfire with great results.

Results on my black hood were not as good but I am new to the PC and not sure whether I worked it corectly.

I first went over the hood (after claying) with a white (lake country??) polsihing pad using # 80 and worked it on 4.5 speed until almost dry. On a couple of spots I used the yellow cutting pade and #80 then finished it off again with the white pad. Lastly I went the whole hood with #7 and a black finishing pade.

Looked great - got rid of swirls and light scratches but now notice some hazing in a couple of areas which cannot be removed by microfibre cloth or useing a detailing spray.

Not sure if I just missed these areas or did not work # 80 long enough. Any ideas why I may have the hazing and how to get rid of it. Being in Canada I really only have access to mecquire prodeucts. Have scrath x, swirl remover, and DACP in my arsenol.

Thanks - should I have started a new thread?

Hi Scott, are you using #80 more now than your usual DACP-SFP one-two punch?
