Meguiars #5 new car glaze

Where would this product be used in the fight against swirls? Before the LSP, and has anyone tried it before?

Right before you wax it, ideally with a carnuba. I have it, but haven't used it in a year or so...I seem to remember very much disliking application and removal of this product.

RAG- I bet you're misremembering as the #5 is about the most user-friendly product (of any kind) I can think of ;) I'd keep it off black trim, but other than that it's simply idiot-proof (and I'd say I wasn't far from idiotic when I first tried it as a kid :o ). You can wipe it off wet (as per usual with Meg's "pure polishes") or let it dry...it simply never messes up for me.

BAKER- Note that the only help this'll be against swirls is a little hiding, it's strictly a nonabrasive glaze. But yeah, use it right before your wax.

^ +1

#5 is great as a way to create a very wet appearance (esp. dark colors) right under a good carnuba wax. Just did my car this weekend. #5, then two passes of #26. Never looked as good as it does now.

:woot2:

Just had a thought, considering I'll be using #5 at least some of the time after my car comes back from the body shop this week. Can you layer glazes such as #5?

RAG,it sounds like you might be thinking of #7. It has a reputation for being harder to work with.

I just bought #5 this past weekend. My car is a 92 Miata that was repainted just after July 4. The red paint really pops with this glaze....I am impressed.

Only up to a point, a point you reach quite quickly. You're just adding more and more oils/etc. and at some point you just wipe off any more that you apply. IMO two coats is plenty and even that might be a waste. It's sure not like layering KSG or Zaino or even Collinite wax.

In '79 I applied #5 to my new Dodge Magnum GT, lots of applications over and over. It really looked nice, but I dunno if it was just what my then-young eyes wanted to see or whether I was really building up product :nixweiss I suspect the former, but it did make me feel like I was accomplishing something though...

It is my understanding (according to McGuire's) that you can add a layer to a carnuba finish to give it a couple days of nice depthness, and a wet look. I sometime do this on a weekend to "turn more heads" with it and Pin. Souveran. I don't know how many compliments I have gotten.
