Megs Soft Buff 2.0?

Garry Dean

Garry Dean Quality!
I have always used LC pads and for the most part kept up with all of their pads, but I have never tried any Megs pads.

I have used a rotary for years, but recently I have been reaching for my G110 more and more. I like 6.5" pads and I recently bought a 6" backing plate for the G110 (bad idea! crazy vibrations!), I guess to evenly distribute pressure on the pads.

Will I benefit from using Megs pads over LC pads? Are they better? Will I see better results? Any difference?

Any input is welcome.

i personally dont care much for the megs DA pads, my pc wouldnt spim with the megs, and they seemed to gum um the product on them. i switched to the edge 2k pads and had much better results. now i switch to an air DA at work and found out quick the 2k pads i dont believe will hold up to the extra umph the air da has (max speed of 10k opm's vs the 6k of the PC) i dun split apart my last 2k pad with the air DA and went through 1 meg backin plate for it also within 2 weeks of using it lol. now i found a cumberland backing plate at a local store with a 10k max rpm but have to revert back to my old meg da pads for now wich still seem to be gumming up on me, even with using lil product and even spritzing the pads.

I have had some luck with meguiars 6.5" yellow polishing pad. Not to say that they work any better but I like the feel of this pad, and use it lot's for light polishing.

I will say I like flat pads over and other I have tried.

I just got the flex wiwth 6.5" pads. I am now looking to put some 4" on my PC for tight areas.

This may not be so helpful, But give them a shot It can't hurt.

I used a soft buff 2.0 black pad with M205 on my UDM (the original model) and it worked fine. I had not issues with pad spinning, etc.

I still have a couple of Meg's 6.5" polishng pads. They were one of the first pads I purchased back when I bought my PC. I liked them then, I like them now. I understand the new version has gone to a 7" pad. IMO that is too big of a pad to be effective with the PC. Should be a nice rotary pad though. Also you can now wash them in the washing machine if you so desire.

I love the Megs 2.0 pads. I'm not a big fan of the LC CCS style. No issues for me with either the PC, Flex or rotary with the 2.0 pads.

Rasky,
Do you think the small Flex Rotary could handle the 7 inch pads? The manufacturer says the largest pads the rotary is designed for 6 inch. I'm using the edge 2k system but I want to change to a 3 pad system like Meguiar's.
