Meg's Pro Products at Walmart

Happened to be in Walmart yesterday and to my surprise they now have a section in their detailing isle for Megs pro products--M105/205, D300/301, MF pads and quite a few other products--it looked like they were not quite completely finished setting up the area so they may add more.

Great find! I hope it lasts...

I know what you mean--for a few months prior to that the same area was filled with products from Surf City Garage--not exactly mainstream (although their glass cleaner is excellent) so maybe the Megs products will survive.

On MOL,Michael Stoops has posted a list of Walmarts that are going to carry the Meg's Mirror Glaze products. I question their move but I guess we will have to wait and see if its successful.Might find this all in the clearance aisle in a few months.

I'll be VERY jealous if that happens, I'd love to stock up on some clearance MF pads, D300, etc.

No WalMart stores in Michigan are carrying any of this stuff unfortunately.

So, this is just a limited distribution trial ?? Not widespread at this time ?? :(

Yep. There are less then 100 stores in the program. Like I posted , the complete list is on the MOL forum. The Meg's da is also included as are the new wraps from Meguiars.

The Walmart near me also had a section set up for Meguiar's. 105/205/D300/D301 and a few accessories. Yup. I have pictures. I'll post it up in a bit.

Here is a pic.

It seems like someone in the Walmart corp office is a detailer at heart. IMO, that's the only way to explain the Autoglym and now the pro products.

Autoglym was more than likely brought in because of the decades of success across the pond. They were probably following trend based on the years of continual success.. Fortunately(for the face of the brand) the person in charge of pricing forgot that little conversion of roughly 1.6 to the American dollar... not to mention walmart's detail aisle appeals to a certain group.

@bcgreen - The products at walmart will basically have the regular MSRP

As a Meg's distributor I am relatively confident these will have the same response as the products at the other retail locations the people who know what they are worth(the few) are the only ones probably buying this. For example 179.99 for the G110 at a Walmart?

What ticks me off about it is that even on the products like the QID, and the clay kits the prices walmart sells these at absolutely suffocate the specialized distributors. Without getting into it(because I can't) - look at the price of QID, the clay kits, the new endurance line and the new stuff in the black bottles for 11-12, at walmart then compare to any online advertised retailer. While some vendors are considered greedy by some people across the forums..this particular situation is not that of greed(if you catch my drift).

Depending on how it goes, it may end up suffocating out the specialized retailers in local communities. But again, I am just a fighter on the uphill battle against devaluing..

After seeing the list of walmart stores in this program it seems to make no sense. They have avoided most of the major cities that would support such a program. As for prices you can see below, MSRP prices are not being followed in some cases. These were found in Tx. by a member of DB and posted on their forum.

M105/32oz 24.97

M205/32oz 19.97

M300/16oz 15.97

M301/16oz 7.97

Microfiber cut or polish 2pks 18.97

W67da plate 17.97

G110 179.97

Why HD though? They could have brought in SRP or EGP or something else, its just out of the realm of regular logic. HD is great stuff, but who would think to sell it to the masses? Its definitely not bubba proof.

As to the prices of some of the Megs stuff, check out the prices for Meg QW on Amazon. $8 shipped free (with $25 order or Prime).

Here's the cold hard truth, most (99%) of us will shop for the best deal. If I can get something on-line, I have o figure in shipping vs sales tax if bought locally. Guess what, shipping is a be-otch most of the time! But, only thing I use that Megs makes is M105 so it's not a "oh wow" deal that Wal-mart is carrying the brand now.

BTW -please go to YouTube and check out the music thing - people of walmart, some girl made a couple of these and they're funny, as Larry the Cable Guy would say,"that's funny right there - don't care who you are - that's funny"
