Megs foam pads

Used the PC to day for the first time and I want to know about the megs pads. I have a 04 ford Escape (fire red) it has light to moderate swirl marks no big deal I used #80 and the megs foam polishing pad. It came out OK but I think it would work better if I used the megs foam cutting pad what do you think?

Well Red, we would need to see some pics to know if it would have worked better with a cutting pad. The meguiar's Red foam pad is a very light cut pad IMO. I used on my uncle's car and was dissapointed with the reults. I use Lake Country cutting pads for that kind of work. I find them to be perfect for cutting pad jobs. However, I use only Meguiar's pads for polishing. I think they have the perfect mix of firmness, and flex to get the job done really well. If you have some pics, post them so we can see!:D

The cutting pad is not intended to be used with the PC, it will induce marring. My suggestion would be to either do another pass with #80 or step up to #83.

I agree completely. Another option is the Propel yellow cutting pad. It is more aggressive than the Meguiars polishing pad but not as aggressive as their cutting pad. I haven't had any marring problems with it at all.

You guys are right I think if I just take my time and do another pass with it ill be good sorry I have no pics but I don't have a camera. Thanks for the help

Going over each area slowly with moderate pressure (push down until the PC bogs and let up slightly) may help. Without seeing your paint in person, it is impossible to say if you need to get more aggressive with either the pad or the polish.

The same can be said of the LC orange pad.
