Megs burgandy Cut vs Edge green light cut..

are these pretty comparable in cut?

Not even close. The edge green is pretty close to the Meg's yellow. The Meg's burgandy pad is very dense, and agressive, IMO it fits right inbetween the edge yellow and black.

that's interesting, the edge yellow is a very course 50ppi and the Megs burgandy while stiffer has a smaller pore size-to me that would seem to be less aggresive than the yellow

As far as I know Meguiar's has never published a PPI rating for any of their pads. From personal experience, the meguiar's Burgandy pad has been able to remove defects faster than an edge yellow pad. However, in my LIMITED use of the black pad, it is boat denser, and more agressive than the Meguiar's burgandy.

There is more to foam than just PPI rating. You have to take into account the type of foam(open cell vs. closed cell, open cell reticulated vs non reticulated), the density of the foam, and then the PPI. Also, accoridng to one manufacturer, PPI is just a tolerance, and has a standard variation of 10%. Meaning if the pad is rated 100 ppi, the actual pore count can be 90-110 ppi.

So does the Megs burgandy pad leave a nicer finish than the Edge yellow? Also which pad is better for a rotary-Edge green vs Megs yellow (polishing)?
