Meg. UQD vs Pledge

I have heard of show car guy's using pledge and how it was the secret to that perfect shine. :bow

Today while detailing my Black Ranger I did part of the bed side with Meg. UQD and the other half with Pledge

The WINNER IS--Drum Roll please

I could not tell any difference.

Both looked very glossy with great reflection

I'm sure the UQD will last longer.

There are a lot of things when it comes to showcar detailing that differ and even go against regular detailing.

Some guys just load up on glazes figuring they care more about the shine than the protection since its garaged most of the time.

I have a show car so I understand that mind set in fact this year I think I will try the new EZ Creme glaze that chemical Guy's came out with.

My show car is in the garage all but about 10 hours per week so protection is not at the top of the list.

However this new stuff is supposed to have a fair amount of protection in it since it contains a polymer.

Has anyone on DC used this product.
I would link to it but not sure if that is allowed here.

Unfortunately I have not, Black Bart. Yet, in my readings, I was lead to believe that the Ez Creme was a cleaner wax. Although there are those that think it does produce terrific results. Several forum friends have stated simply, "My new favorite product."

Now one that I was told that did not have any cleaners in it was a product called Danase Wet Glaze.(this product could be made by CG as well) I have this ordered and will begin testing as soon as it arrives. I will post my findings.

In my zeal to create the "Perfect Shine" I tended to polish to much and I am afraid that my paint is in dire straits because of it. I am looking for a glaze that has some filling properties and can be layered(similar to Z5) to help mitigate all the over polishing that I have tended to do in the past but still provide some protection.

I have a friend that uses Pledge all the time. It is quick and easy. His vehicles always look good when he is finished. He lived in Seattle where it rained all the time. Nothing he did ever looked good for long so he finally succumbed to laziness. He used Pledge simply because it was easier.

I'm curious as well.
EZ Creme GLAZE w/acrylic shine.
We love our sponsors, but this is also an open forum

I've heard of people using pledge as well, but with all the car care product thats available, i"m not sure why they would.
IIRC Meg's #7 was designed just for that purpose of giving that incredibly wet look for shows.

Doesent Pledge streak a lot.
The company I used to work for also owned a boat sales company, (Boss's hobby) and I remember that they used pledge on the boats in the showroom. I don't remember any streaking, but they didn't have a lot of black boats. :)
They did have some dark colors, but most of those were very heavy on flake and I might not have noticed.

Meg's #7 is/was very popular at car shows, but I never had any luck with it. 3M Imperial Hand Glaze also does a good job of looking good on a show car.

I have #7 it is not what I would call user friendly
3M hand glaze seems to be a little easier to remove.

I bought up a lot of the old 3M Pink fill & Glaze and I'm down to my last bottle.
Fill & glaze has been discontinued and I don't know why it is much better than what 3M offers now.

Probably several don't remember it but Charles has been around long enough that I'll bet he remembers the pink stuff.

Not implying that you are old Charles because I'm older than you are. :rofl

The thing that caught my eye about the EZ Creme was that it is acrylic and they claim you can put a sealant over it.

I keep experimenting on the show car looking for something better.

It certainly wasn't for me. :)

But it was not always compatible with the LSP used after it. (Streaks, smears) Because of that, it was another product given away after a couple of uses.

Being quite a lot younger than you, it isn't a product I am familiar with. :D
Actually, I was never a big 3M fan and used a variety of products. Meguiar's products were probably what I used the most from the beginning of time until about 2002. I used the Medallion series for about 10 years.

The only 3M product I have used that I was impressed with was their Showcar Paste Wax. It looked good and had enough durability for my purposes, but it wasn't always easy to find. I switched to S100 Carnauba since it was more readily available.

Sometimes at a show while trying to clean the car I get some minor marring or swirls.

I'm talking about really minor but on Black it shows and the judges will see it
Since I can not whip out my PC and polish it the only temporary solution is to hide it with a glaze.
This will last long enough to get me through the day and when I get home I can correct it.

Fortunately this don't happen often but that is why I was asking about the EZ Creme it or the Danase wet glaze both sound promising.

A couple people here on DC have been happy with the Danase so maybe I will try some of that.

I use the Danase wet glaze and it looks exactly like the CG glaze. I just used it again yesterday and it's some pretty nice stuff. Looks wet and glossy, easy on and off and holds up well. Danase says it can be used over or under other products with no problems but I top with carnauba because I like the look. Yesterday was the first time I've applied with a PC instead of by hand and I think I will keep doing it that way. Used less product and went on much thinner and off easier. The only other glaze that I've tried was RMG and I wasn't that impressed with it. Danase is way more durable, and I found the filling ability to be pretty good but not "amazing." Love the look though.

Reading this post got me thinking I should post as a joke that I use pledge on my car and QD on my furniture. Well, today after washing the car I did a QD with Clearkote Quickshine and for some reason I thought to read the label. It says that it is great to use in your home to polish furniture!

Since you have posted this I guess I need to confess NXT looks good on the refrigerator. :yay

Pogo did you use a polishing or a finishing pad when you applied it by PC

"J"

I used a finishing pad jaybs02. It's actually the first time I've used that pad because as I said before I've always applied by hand. I think it went on and off easier and used less product with the PC so I'll do it that way from now on.
