Meg d151 and Ultimate Compound

Here is a chart I got from somewhere that shows the line of aggressiveness of the Megs Compounds and Polishes.

Hope this helps.

Odd, that chart shows d151 having more cut than 205. That has been the complete opposite for me.

Makes me wonder if the way I treat d151 is not aggressive enough in pad or pressure.

I bought my D151 because I'd read somewhere that is was close in cut to Menz 203 but SMAT. I have a gallon but won't have a suitable customer for a couple of weeks. It will be a very hard Mercedes CC so I was thinking white or HT tangerine (depending on how it finishes out).

the reason I asked is I have a 2003 honda civic to do in a few weeks that is a friends car. It does not have to finish up perfect as the friend does not care , it's a junk car. I am practicing on it. But i want to use 151 as that's what I have the most of.....the car is in ok shape, needs a compounding and has some CC failure in spots. I expect this job to do nothing for those spots. So if I HAVE TO use 151 - and have a DA/3403, what 6.5 CCS pads would you use on a GG DA and a flex 3403? (I have them all)

I will follow with blackfire Total polish and seal to practice...

If you will be following 151 with a finer polish, I'd use an orange pad.

IME, I've always found 151 to be a good deal stronger than 205, even after IPA'ing to check for filling.

I too have found D151 to be more aggressive then M205 (I actually misread the first reply). I would say Ultimate Compound is more then D151 though.

I wouldn't think it would be great in that application without stripping the protection D151 leaves behind before the BFTP. BFTP will take it off but won't work as "effectively" as if it wasn't there. Probably insert IPA between if you are going to do that.

correct, IPA between was my plan...
