McKees37 20/20 Cockpit Glass Cleaner

I don't like interior glass cleaning, and I'm not good at it. Thought I'd give this product a try. Bought via internet, sight unseen. First sentence of directions says do not use on tinted windows. Pretty nearly every car has tinted windows. Can I assume this admonition applies to tint film and not factory tinted?

Anybody have opinion/advice about this.
 
Yes, those warnings apply to film tint, not the tint IN the glass. That usually means the glass cleaner has ammonia in it, unless I'm not remembering that right (I've never had film tint).

I had film tint in a used car I bought maybe 10 years ago and spent numerous days removing it.

Oh, and most of us hate cleaning glass. I have found that towels make a lot of difference, you want ones that don't leave microfiber lint, especially if you're doing the windshield. The twist loop towels that are sold at The Rag Company, Autofiber, and Griot's are a good choice. I like to spray the towel, clean the glass, then flip to a dry side for a second wipe. Waffle weave can also be a good choice.

I'm kind of surprised that McKee's is selling a glass cleaner that isn't safe for tint, pretty much all detailing glass cleaners are IPA-based and safe for tint.

Your suggestion to spray the glass cleaner onto glass cleaning microfiber cloth and NOT directly onto the glass is "detailing hack" that is key to getting glass streak-free.
I know some foam-type glass cleaner instructions say to spray onto the glass and if this method is followed, another mistake is to spray too much foam cleaner on the glass. Less is better.
The other mistake is trying to clean glass when it is too hot and the cleaner drys too fast OR when it is too cold (below 35°F) and the cleaner does not evaporate, leaving streaks.
In the winter I use winter-formulated auto windshield wash in a spray bottle in cold weather (below 32°F) misted on to salt-laden windows and then cleaned with a bug squeegee with a mesh-covered sponge to scrub with and squeegee of the liquid mess with the rubber squeegee wiper end, wiping the wiper after each pass with blue paper shop toweling.
Really dirty windows might require a second spritz on the window and squeegeeing it, again wiping the rubber wiper off with said toweling. Not streak-free, but a lot cleaner than salt-whitewashed windows you cannot see out of!

The 20/20 Glass cleaner is thick like a polish. You use a foam pad or microfiber to rub it in then another towel to buff off. It probably has some abrasives in it

Oh, that makes sense then, if it's like the Zaino or Duragloss glass polishes, that you can use on the inside of the windows. What a funny coincidence that both Zaino and Duragloss have products like that...oh well, nevermind, apparently M37 has one like that now also.

Hard to buy Duragloss anything these days. Haven't bought anything Zaino since I left the cult.
 
Well, it's hard to buy anything Zaino if you live here in NJ, since we can't order from the website.

So you have some film on the glass you're trying to remove with the 20/20?
 
I actually already have one. Use it sometimes, but not a huge fan. Hard for me to get actual pressure on the glass with it.
 
Yeah, I can't remember the last time I used mine. I'd tell you to just get a new car with a clean window, but I remember how filthy one of mine was the first time I cleaned it. Bunch of brown gunk...but at least that was a hatch window and wasn't that bad to clean, other than having to get the privacy shield off.

Sounds like we need an Autopian road trip to come clean your window, who's in?
