McKee`s paint coating streaking?

This is my first time using a coating and reading reviews on McKee`s 37 paint coating most agreed that it was a good coating for first timers. I`m having trouble getting rid of streaks from it though. I did an IPA wipe down on my panels after a 2 step paint correction, and applied the coating as per the directions (5-6 sprays per panel.) The majority of each of the panels look great and are incredibly slick, but in some areas there are streaks that I can`t seem to get rid of. I`ve taken a microfiber and lightly buffed the streaks which gets rid of the streaks for a few minutes but then the streaks reappear. I applied the coating over 24 hours ago and it`s still doing the same thing when I buff them off. Any ideas what could be causing this?

High spots.

May have to polish those areas and re-coat. Myself, I spray the applicator, not the paint.

+1. Sorry about the high spots. Like Ron said, you`ll need to polish them away OR just ignore them.

In general applying a product to an applicator vs directly on the surface will always give you more even results. This is true for both interior and exterior detailing products.

Where did you read this "as per the directions (5-6 sprays per panel.)" Ive not seen that before and I just checked the descriptions on AG, ACC, and McKees websites. Far as I know 5-6 sprays PER PANEL is using way too much coating. Heck most coatings 1 spray will usually cover more than one panel (but not recommended) I think you used way too much. You are probably going to have to do what the others have said...polish off and re-coat those areas.

Is it possible you might have confused the instructions for the Hydro Blue SiO2 coating for the McKees Paint Coating?

The Hydro Blue is a "spray and rinse" application, where you apply semi-liberally to the paint when wet, then rinse off with a strong blast of water. They also have a longer lasting "traditional" paint coating, where you would apply to dry paint following Ron`s guidelines.

Which one do you have?

They`re not that bad so I`ll probably just leave them alone until I polish the truck again or need to reapply the coating. Just trying to figure out how to prevent them in the future. I really like how glossy the coating is. It really makes my black truck look like glass even though it has almost 200k miles on it!

I haven`t finished the truck yet. Ran out of time this weekend so I`ll try using the applicator to apply it (like in the video posted) next weekend after I finish compounding and polishing the rest.

I read it on the back of my bottle. I have McKee`s 37 Paint Coating. Here`s pics of the bottle and directions. It really seems like 5-6 sprays isn`t even enough. My applicator seems really grabby using just the directed amount of sprays. I need to get an applicator that will allow a better grip.

Which applicators do you think would be better? The suede one seems like it would waste less product and probably wouldn`t drag on the paint as much. Is there anything wrong with applying the McKees coating with suede vs foam?
