Got a 2002 Taurus and the plastic/rubber panel covering has separated from all 4 doors...

I`m just gonna tape off, prep and rattle can these panels. I`m wondering if my interior trim code could be used to match the paint exactly or should I just compare can tops and match it the best I can. Interior trim code seems to be J2.

If indeed that code is for the blue trim pieces, you might see if the Ford Dealership Parts Dept., can look that code up and see what they say..

Yes, it can probably be repainted if its just plastic.. I would see about cleaning it really well with something for plastic if that is what it is.

Then, you should open the door, tape off the entire door, window down, so you dont have to tape that up, and carefully put level, even coats across those panels..

Try to not get overspray all over the place.. Practice with something else you dont care about with a paint spray can on a piece of cardboard to see how steady and even you can paint horizontally, a few times, if you dont already have that skillset..

The preparation of the panel AND the taping it all up for painting should always take way longer than it will to paint the work..

You dont want that color somewhere else that is not that color..
