Marring/hazing - how do I know if I've got it?

Detailing Stare
Ok, well, if you saw my other thread from earlier today... "Cutting Pad?", then you know that I used my new pc with a Meg's cutting pad and SSR2. In bright sunlight, what I am noticing is... not swirls (those are in this Yukon with a vengence before started on it), but more of a slight shifting line in the sunlight as you change position or angle. I guess that's the best way I can describe it.

Is this hazing or marring? And what should I do about it? Should I go over the vehicle again with SSR1 and the Meg's polishing pad or maybe the polishing pad and a paint cleaner like Wolfgang's Paint Enhancer or 4* Paint Pre-Cleaner or PB's Pro Polish?

Any thoughts, ideas and is that what I am seeing? What I described?

Oh, and I worked the SSR2 for at least several minutes per section on 5.5.

Hazing is a dulling on the surface - is that what it looks like? When you get hazing, you follow up with a polishing (so SSR1 or PwC with the polish pad is good!). Did you use the Meg's red cutting pad? that on is pretty harsh - I usually stick with the yellow polish pad and only use the red one for deep scratches..

Nope, not dull at all. Very hard for me to describe what it is - oh, maybe almost like a hologram.

I did use the red pad, but see the pics I posted in that thread I mentioned. Very bad!

Steve,

Much appreciate the reply. :)

This is really such a great place and group of folks here at DC. Yesterday, and today, in the midst of taking on something beyond my knowledge and experience, I ask questions, I get responses in such a timely manner and am able to continue on quickly with my efforts.

Now this is Detail City and some great people!! :)

Steves answer is the correct one in my book.
After using SSR 2 and the cutting pad, I went over the finish again with SSR 2 and the polishing pad.
Then for the ultimate I went over that with SSR 1 on a polishing pad and after working in at around 5 I cranked it up to 6.
It produced one of the shiniest clearest looks I have ever seen.
It all depends on how much time you want to spend.
You might try going straight to the SSR 1 and if that doesn't work then SSR 2 on a polishing pad.

That's exactly what I'm doing - going straight to the SSR1 - but only because of the time factor or I'd do just waht Steve said. But I've just got to wrap this up here soon today and get this monster back to the guy. If I had more time, I'd like to go the full routine. This is my first shot at the pc and I'm really enjoying it - and learning big time too.
