Many pics and questions!

I am trying to figure out what I should do for my car. You may be surprised that it has only been washed with EO wet in the pictures. I have tenativly figured out what I should do with the car. wash, Clay Magic, wash, DACP, SFP (no DACP if only sfp is needed) OR I could try Poorboy's ssr line. Need help on what combo. VM, EX-P (1-2x), S100 wax.

This is what I have so far for products.

I heard that I should use terry applicators for polish but I will try foam first. I have 2 orders I am thinking about placing, they need tweaking most likely. From autofiber.com I think it is, 5 buffing towels, 1 micro restore, 1 glass towel, 1 multipurpose towel to try it, 2 MF applicators.

From autogeek.net, EX-P, SSR's if I choose them (most likely will), 303 for carpet cleaning, thats it. I got claymagic also already. Everything has recepts so I can return the DACP(23$) and SFP(18$).

Here are a few pics so you can tell me what SSR combo I should use and anything else you would like to suggest about my current process and products.

Those are the worst swirls I could capture at 6:00pm that day. I will probably get some at noon so I can really show you the swirls, they are quite bad to say the least.

Here are some more pleasing pictures with a recent wash with EO Wet. I have more "bad" pictures then good.

I used the wrong mode on the pic, it is a little blurry:

Plenty more where that came from. I got 101 and I can't even fit them all in my gallery.

Like I said I have a ton more imperfection pictures that I for the most part want to create another thread for.

oh yea, I forgot to mention, everything is by hand. Well, technically I already showed you everything I had. :p

No PC, and even if I had one I would still need to use polish. Any tips on what combo of SSR's I will need? You asked for pictures and here you are. :)

for swirls like that and by hand, that's going to be a lot of work. best to use a terry towel folded into eighths, try SFP, really work it in, and see if that does anything. if not, step up to the DACP. the terry towel will give you more bite than a foam applicator will, and for that kind of swirls, it's tough. i tried doing something similar on my mom's car before i got my PC. i had some success with #80 Speed Glaze, although i really had to work hard to remove any swirls.

so if you can, buy a PC with all the right pads, and your arms will thank you. :p

but otherwise, your car looks nice. :)

If you look closely you can see terry cloth applicators. I have not opened the sfp pr dacp(I have recepts) because I am leaning towards ordering the SSR line (2.5, then 1?) with my EX-P and such.

I want to see what I can get done by hand before I get a PC. I know I will be dieing for one after a few hours. I will get ridiculed like no other if I get one, but i don't care. :xyxthumbs

sfp and dacp is a commonly used combo, which should give you great results. I have not used them my self, but there are a lot of people on this board who have.

SSR2.5 is supposed to be exactly like DACP. Ive used SSR 2, and could go straight to wax. I havent tested it my self, but I think that you could do the same with SSR2.5. If you wanted to be really thorough you could follow with SSR1 or something like VM though.

If you have access to shade, it really is a toss up. Both methods will work great. As far as being ridiculed about the PC, I would assume that is by family members/friends? (it sure wont be anyone from this forum)... Well you can have them do one side of the car, and you do the other. As you finish up, and they are still only half way through, pull up a lawn chair and grab your favorite beverage to watch as they work :D . Doing everything by hand should give you some nice muscles though. :up

hmm, so you are saying for my swirls I could use SSR2.5 and then follow up with SSR1? Yes, I do want to do a complete job for sure. I am making those orders soon, I want to make sure I have everything right. How would I go about applying the SSR2.5 and then 1?

Here is a Good combo to do:

Clay (if needed), SSR2.5, SSR1 or VM, EX

Here is an even better combo to do:

Clay (if needed), SSR2.5, SSR1, VM, EX x2, (wait 24 hrs) Natty's Paste Wax

Both ways to will work, it all depends on how much work you want to do and how much time you have. I would definitely break this job up into a couple days if your doing this by hand.... just to save your arms.

As far as applying the SSRs, the general rule is you apply the product to a pad (you will probably want a terry applicator or such (more bite)) and work it into the paint until dry. Repeat if needed. Work in small sections. I think your supposed to work it back and forth in one direction, but I'm not too sure. Maybe someone else can help out with that. Once the finish is to your liking with the SSR2.5, follow up with SSR1.

Also, I have found that the instructions on Poorboy's products are very good, but you have to realize that they put a LOT of info in a small space. Read it carefully. If you miss a word or two, you are missing a lot.

I hope this helps :D

I am not going to order anything until I figure out what I am going to do with my body dmg first. But I would like to know if I could clay (and not wash afterwards) and then not continue for now. Then when I figure out my paint problems (and fix them) I could skip the clay on my big polishing day. is this ok?

You can do this:

Wash

Clay (a section at at time), and then wipe up the residue

Wax

BUT

if you get a bad body shop... they might get overspray all over your car, which could require clay to fix :) so ill let you decide what to do. If not, you wont need to clay on polishing day.

I save the wax for later, I want to fix all imperfections before I Glaze/seal/wax. Do I *need* to wax or seal if I clay? If so, it can wait.

if your going to fix the body damage right away... no...

if it might be a number of weeks... a month.. more... etc... till you can fix the damage, then yes, wax/seal

Well, I have the clay right now and my polish I have not even ordered yet, I figure I will clay my next wash, and polish (wash before also) once I get my order in. I do need a good QD to go with the order, but I am searching on that. It seems that QShine is a good choice. I am going to detail the interior before I polish or clay also, I am using to autopia e book for instructions on that, I will try woolite for my carpets, but I think I will still get 303 for carpet in my order for next time. when I do order though, would you guys recommend AIO and then EX-P or VM, then EX-P after polishing on my color. I would like to retain as much brightness as possible, less darkening.

here is the carpet, I am going to take out the seats and really clean those stains out, I'll try woolite, but I am going to order 303 for carpets also. What do you guys think of this?:

wash, clay, wash (wait about a week becuase I have clay), wash, polish with SSR 2.5 (vs DACP), SSR1 (vs SFP), AIO (possibly, it darkens a lot and is fairly difficult to apply by hand), VM, EX-P 2x, s100 to top. I am looking into wolfgang also.

Try out woolite first... 303 probably works very well, but it is expensive. Figure out what you need.

once you clay, there wont be any protection on your car. It would be better to clay then wax if you wanted to wait before polishing. Then when you get to polishing, that will remove the wax.

AIO/VM is a bit much. I would just pick one and go with it. Id probably bit VM. The rest is good though.
