Makita Polisher 9227C...HELP!!!!!

Could use some help here.

I just purchased a Makita Polisher that I was going to use on my 94 Vette. The more articles I read, the more conflicting advice I am getting. I was going to apply Liquid Glass by hand and buff with an Edge White Ultra fine finishing pad, set to 1,000 rpm.

A few people said no prob as long as I don't exceed 1,200 rpm. Others said don't use at all or I'll mess up the clear coat & paint.

I was going to try this out a few times on my dented/scratched Escort until I got familiar with the product.

Should I go ahead with this or just send it back & eat the shipping charge??
 
IMO, a rotary is for correction NOT removing last step products.

You should also look into finding some scrap panels from a body shop to practice on. The rotary is a wonderful machine, but in the hands of a novice can ruin paint.
 
:yeah Use the rotary to correct any problems with the paint such as swirls, oxidation, scratches etc. Always remove product by hand. A rotary is too much for that job.
