Makita BO6040 Dual-Action Polisher

I’m purchasing a Makita BO6040 Dual-Action Polisher so what backing plate and pad size combo do you recommended 5"- 6.5" or 6"-7.5"?

anyone please correct me if im wrong but i dont think you can change to a diff backing plate for ex to a smaller size.....but then again i dont have this dual mode makita just the rotary....
 
Stands to reason I should use the 6" backing plate but you never know until you ask. I ordered it from the Makita Dealer in my area and saved $50 on list price with no freight / handling charge. Had to wait a week but no big and should be in mid next week. Another good thing is the Makita repair center is close by..

Yeah, you can't change the backing plate to any of the conventional plates on the market though the supplied backing pad fits the 7.5" LC pads like it was meant for them.



Nice machine, you should like it. My PC hasn't seen much work since I got the Makita.
