Making your own Quick detailer.

I was just wondering if any of you have ever looked into making your own QD? It seems that some clean filtered water, a squirt of some mild auto wash, and a little experiemntation with the amount water soluable of wax, (Griots carnuba?) would be excellent and real cheap. I've read you can do this with Klasse AIO and it works well. Anyone ever do this?

Wouldn't you want to exclude the wax? I though the general concensus was that carnauba in a QD = bad... am I wrong?

No, carnuba in QD is not bad as long as you're QDing a surface waxed with carnuba. Those in the polymer sealant camp tend to shy away from QDs with carnubas because it may cause issues with the next layer of sealant bonding properly. However, on a car waxed with carnuba, a QD containing carnuba will help "refresh" your wax job.

As for Carnauba it depends on what you have on your car...Ie if you have carnauba wax then a carnauba QD would be good.

I dunno about making QD but I do not think they have much for soaps but more lubricating thingys though.

Give it a try and tell us what happens.

ahhh, thanks... I guess I didn't think that this would be different for polymer/just carnauba route...

I have developed a magic formula......:p

Spray bottle full of water, 1/4 cap of Turtle wax Zip car wash, some drops of Kit wax (made by johnson, water soluble), and some IHG.....shake well, and enjoy!
