makeup remover...

Ill preface this with I have two interiors to clean tomorrow and I dont have all day to try and figure out what is going to work best (time constraints)...one leather, one cloth interior

Both cars have makeup all over the seats, and if I cant get it removed the owner is going to just replace the leather seats in the FX35

so, with that said, what is the best way to remove makeup from leather? and what about the cloth...what is your go to TYPE of product/process in this makeup situation??

Woolite and water, 10:1 dillution works fine. Just took make-up off a steering wheel the other day using that method.

I used to have a customer with a Suburban and she wore tons (literally!) of make-up and every two weeks when I would clean her Suburban, the steering wheel was nearly white with make-up residue.

I used APC+ with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and it took EVERYTHING out of my leather seats. Dont rub to much with that eraser though and make sure to follow up with a good leather product.

Anyone ever try... Oh I dunno..... Make up remover??? If it's gental enough to put all over your face Pretty sure you can put it on your leather and your cloth.... Of course spot test for color fastness.. But it just seems like the logical first choice I would go for. Then if that dosen't work start stepping up to harsher chemicals.

Woolite universally works well.

I have great luck with the 3M Automotive Upholstery cleaner (green can) on carpets and cloth seats. Really easy to work with and always takes out "general dirt" the best for me.

Kiwi Saddle Soap works well on leather surfaces; just let air dry and follow with a conditioner. On surface 'dirt' and stains like makup; Woolite should work equally as well.

As WannaFbody mentioned; Spot Shot works great on hard; set-in stains in carpet. I've never had it hurt any carpet; household or automotive.

I think it is going to depend on the type of make-up. Some make-up is oil/fat based and will not respond well to water based cleaners. Depending on what it is, you may need to use a solvent like D'Limonene. Obviously try the least aggressive first, which would be a water based interior cleaner or leather cleaner.

Never really had a problem over the years with makeup until last month. Cleaned up a buddy's girlfriends car and i think it was more a tinted lotion as it was the worst on the driver door area, bad on wheel and shifter.

I started with a woolite mix, then different diluted APC's and then mineral spirits with both MF and cotton and a soft brush. Never really did much. I moved up to Castrol Super Clean and it removed most of it. Water wipe and dressed.

Not sure what was it but i bet "it lasts all day"
