Make It Shine: Very Wet Honda Civic Hatch

Hey everyone. I had the chance to detail the car of a good friend. It is a 1999 Civic with 204,000KMs on it.

I have been without a camera for the past few details but thankfully my friend has an XTi so he snapped quite a few pictures. It was nice for once for someone to be taking pictures while I focused at the task. After the car was done, we went to a parking lot to shoot some proper pictures.

Process:

- Wash via double-buckets, Optimum Car Wash & Sheepskin Mitts

- Dry with WW MFs

- Clay with Riccardo Clay & ONR diluted to Clay Lube

- IPA wipedown

- OP on LC 6.5" white pad, and Sonus 6" white pad via rotary @ 1600rpm

- IPA wipedown and rinse

- Opti-Seal x2

- Tires dressed with owner's Armour All-Foam when we reached the photoshoot destination.

I was very happy at the level of gloss achieved, and Opti-Seal amped it up quite a bit after that as you will see in the pictures.

After 2 coats of Opti-Seal:

Special thanks to Amer for the pictures and letting me use the camera! I definitely have to get a DSLR soon :D

Thanks for looking!

+1 I'm a huge fan of 6gen Civics. 5th and 6th gens have aged very well.

Beautiful car, great work. Paint looks astounding.

Thanks for all the comments! The car drives VERY well for it's age. It honestly feels like it has 100K on it, if even that. The motor is a stock but very healthy D16Y7. Car is pretty much stock except for PIC Coilovers 8K/10K.

The previous owner of this car was a detailer as well, so he knew how to take care of the car properly, hence why it has aged so well.
