Maintenance Products?

The Rainmaker
Several of my friends have a little interest in making their cars look better, but would never go through the steps needed to do it right.
What product that would meet the following criteria would you people recommend?

1. Has to be OTC. The easier to find the better.

2. Needs to have at least some cleaning ability.

3. Safe to use fairly often. Every 60 to 90 days.

4. Easy on, easy off.

5. Can't stain trim. I'm just trying to get them to wipe it on and wipe it off. No way will they ever tape.

Several OTC products have worked good for me, but I have heard that many of them will leave residue on trim. I don't get the product on trim that will stain so I don't really know.

It's been a while since I've had reason to test the staining of any product, but I seem to recall it doesn't stain. I know Mothers Reflections doesn't stain. It's also a good choice, but in terms of easiest to remove the nod goes to FX (IMHO).

As an aside, why don't you become a "dealer of boutique products" to your friends?

CharlesW, can I assume you are referring to one-step products?

I'm trying to adjust my "thinking cap" (reference countless teachers - and a nod to audiboy's sig line regarding giving them thanks).

My initial thoughts went to the old Meg's 3-step (maroon bottle) but I can't remember if it stained trime or not. I seem to remember the paint cleaner step with some favor, but it could just be nostalgia :)
The carnauba liquid was was pretty nice, but it may have stained trim pieces. If they just take their time when working around the black plastic trim pieces they won't need to worry too much about applying product where you don't want it. If they are just going to slop it on, well that's a horse of a different color. ;)

It definitely has to be a one step product.
These are people that think waxing their car is hitting the "Hot Wax" option at the drive-thru wash. They know it's waxing their car cause they can smell it. :wall

I'm pretty sure that staining trim is a problem with many of the OTC products.
Hopefully, not all of them.
I don't have the problem, but I do think most of them will "slop it on".
Hey, right now I'm just trying to get them to even do that. :D

That one-step, OTC will certainly narrow the field of options, won't it?. :)

The Meg's and Mother's recommendation sound pretty good to me, but I have tried neither so I can offer no opinion (that's something I rarely say :D)

Under your watchful eye, guiding hand, and expert tutelage they will quickly learn the art of less is more. :bigups

Just to add, many CarQuest auto parts stores stock DG stuff.

Some of the Duragloss products are also a possibility.

Yep! 501 fits the bill perfectly.

If they don't have it, they can get it for you in a day or two.
