Machine vs Hand Application

1st post! I have typically applied waxes/sealants/polishes by hand and then removed them with my orbital buffer. Mostly because my buffer is 9 inches and can't fit in small spaces. Do you guys apply by hand or machine? If by machine, what is everyone using to apply liquid products? Thanks.

I hand apply/remove waxes and sealants. Less waste and takes me a lot less time. And when using Opti-Seal, all I have to do is apply that. Clears out on its own.

Polishing on the other hand...always by machine (including 1 step polish/sealant products) unless the area is so tight I can't get even a 3" pad into it.

I personally prefer using a DA to apply liquid waxes/sealants. I use a standard Dual Action Polisher (PC/GG/HD) on speed 3 0r 4 and use a 5 inch Red Buff & Shine foam pad. Many of the sealants I use only require very little product to be applied. Thinner the better.

Same here

I *still* can't get quite as thin a sealant application via machine.  But then I still haven't tried the LC Gold pads either.

I do still prefer machine application though, and buff-off too, even though it always seems to require some degree of by-hand follow-up.
