MAC truck quote (Wash & Wax):

I have a lady comming in next week and she has a MAC truck. She doesn't want the trailer done, just the cab part. She wants the outside waxed and the inside vac, wiped down, and windows.

My question: Has anyone done one before if so what did they charged. I already gave her a quote, just curious to see if anyone has done one and what they charged.

(not interested in the hourly charge system for comming up with detailing prices and the like, my prices are set up different). (Just a ball park price).

I'm not sure what to charge but just the time and danger of standing on a ladder to do most of the work would be worth lots of $$$!

I do a Volvo tractor (the truck part) for a wash, spray wax, and dust out the interior for $75.

The most cost on these trucks is tire dressing. You have 6 tires to dress pluss all the frame and other black do dads that are under there.

Yeah, I quoted her $80, close to you Brandon. (Lots of chrome, lots of tires, lots of metal, lots of bugs). I don't do the spray wax though, all my work is done by hand and I use the good stuff. Spray wax, just doesn't cut it for me.

$150 would be nice, but doubt customer would pay. I try not to call a customers bluff. Once I give a quote I stick with it, I don't "feel the water." I think $150 would be fair for the amount of time, but I think it's just a bit steap.

WOW 80 Bucks... I would charge at least 175 for a truck, low would be 125. Since it is not my day job I won't do any low end details for money. All need to be 100 bucks or higher for me to do it. I occasionaly do a family or firneds car, but for free or for lunch.

$175 to wash and wax a truck...now that deserves a wow..that is ridiculous!

You have to remember all my beginnings began in Naples, High end cars. At 16 I would get no less than 75 bucks to wash, wax, clean the interior and that was before I really knew what to do. As I got more tools and better 100 was the average and as much as 150 depending on what needed to be done, their site or mine at their work ect..

My prices are normally a little low because it draws in repeat business, and people are thrilled when they pay because they tell me "I would have paid more if I knew it came out looking like that", so sometimes a tip comes in. But more often then not they come back for more. In my eyes it's a balance of good pricing and happy customers. When they are in line, they come back.

A full size RIG.... Seems Fair to do a complete Detail. Like I said low would be 125...

It's not a full detail though, (wipe down, vac, windows) (wash & wax). She's mostly concerned with the outside. Besides I don't even know if they have carpet in them and God knows I have never driven one.

damn.... thats what I charge for a car if doing the kind of work you're doing....

Yeah your right it's about a car wax price, but I forgot to mention I quoted her $80-$100. Becuase I had not seen the truck. She's lives 3 hours away and wanted a quote before she burned gas to get here. Yeah, our prices are a little on the low side, but it keeps us busy (without sacrificing quality).

If you really think about it, $80-$100 for a rig is not bad. The rig I do is only a "day" cab. No sleeper, no chrome, no bugs. Just sits in a yard and hauls on a farm. It takes me about 2.5hrs to wash, dry, shine/clean interior, glass, door jambs, dress frame/tires, spray wax, and rims.

I charge $30 for the same thing on a car. Out here in the country where I live, if you quote to high, they will just go to the local swirl o matic instead. Most people out here dont know much about "proper" car cleaning.

Thanks for the time estimate, I had a time in my head about how long it would take, and that's about what I came up with (2-3.5) hours. It sounds then the price is about right.

Thanks, Brandon
