M205 vs Ultimate Polish?

Hey all. I'm wondering if anyone has used both M205 and Meg's Ultimate Polish? I've used Ultimate on both my vehicles with mixed results (Black '12 VW CC & Red '12 Mustang GT), usually with a white LC pad (using PC). Especially on the black it tends to leave a bit of haze under the lights. I'm wondering if it's worth switching to M205 or if I shouldn't expect much difference?

If I'm way off base and should be using a different combo, I'm all ears!!! I've also got some PB Black Hole that I haven't tried yet...the vehicles are pretty pampered so by the time they're ready for any corrections it's very minimal. Micro Marring from drying towels, etc.

Advice for one vehicle, both, or one process or another is greatly appreciated!!

The m205 imo should finish down better. I think the 205 will work better for both cars, but try with a black pad on the CC as its paint should be significantly softer.

Most VW paint is rock hard not soft unless the CC is different than most VWs. I've had great results with HD products on our VW paint including a non metallic black Golf--long working time, no dust, easy to remove before LSP application.

I never thought of using it with a black pad. I usually use that pad for my LSP. That might help with my hazing issue if I'm using too rough a pad. Usually I'm going from white pad to LSP & black pad.

Some VW paint is hard, usually older paints. The true black seems to be softer than the metallic, note that finishing down on non-metallic requires more work regardless of hardness (you can see much more). Some of the newer paints, as in the case of all the newer (2011+) gti/cc/jetta are more on the soft side. Definitely not bad, or as bad as newer BMW jet black or Berlina black, but still too soft for m205/white to finish down perfect imo.

I have yet to play with the HD line, but I'm sure it can be as good or better than M205. Have you used HD on a newer CC? If so, i would say to the OP to give it a shot! I feel M205 still lacks the ability to finish perfect on softer paints. Sometimes it does, many times I need to follow up with somethig like Ultrafina or 85rd.

That is fine, just use a new pad for finishing as the lsp remaining in a used pad can mess with the polishing process. I usually keep blue pads specific for a certain lsp and use them only for that, invluding washing seperately from the polishing pads.

Thanks for your posts. Been doing a little research on here regarding 205 as well, which sound similar to your comments about it finishing on the certain paints. I need to play around with the products I have with the black pad (PB BH, Meg's Ultimate and BF Total Polish/Seal). I don't know why I never thought of the product still being effective with a finishing pad. I bet that might do the trick. I'll try a test area this weekend and report back.

The problem is the pad. White pad is too aggressive for SS black paint. UP is a finishing polish so you need to use a finishing pad - blue or black should do the trick.

Time to move on to HD Polish on jet black. Yet to find anything like it where you can get cut and a great finish using HD Polish on black paint.

What pad do you like for jet black and HD polish?
