lowest dust brake pads??

has anyone ever found a pad that is really low dust? my wheels are dirty within 10 miles of driving :nervous:

if anyone can suggest some brands , maybe i can pick some up when i come over on vacation

not really looking to get mega high end $$$$$ stuff

I have Akebono Pro Acts ceramics and no brake dust at all...also no sqeaks....they run about $70 a pair but worth it..also not harsh on the rotors like some pads...

I run Hawk HPS. Some slight squeel (yes I used the spray stuff), but good none the less. I also hear Morse Ceramics are very good also.

Not Bendix. I get a lot of dust with them. But they really do have good bite for an off the shelf pad. And I like to support Honeywell, since they let me use their chem abstracts ;)

Hawks HPS are very popular among the Mazda 6 owners over at Mazda6club.com..

and believe me our stock pads sux, break dust is horrible....

HPS are a good all around brake pad with low dust, but not the best for stopping power IMHO. If you want stopping power, you will have lots of dust. Generally the more dust, the better stopping since the pad is "cutting" into the brakes and creating more friction.

steveo, you make absolutely no mention of what sort of vehicle you're trying to outfit.

I've had good luck with the following:

Rofren

Remsa

Mintex Red

My car had hideous brake dust with OEM pads. I switched to Hawk HPS about 6 months ago and it's a huge difference. They've been really good to me.

I have just fitted C-Tek pads to my Chrysler SRT8 and they are great. Made in Canada. Rated to 750 degrees, low dust, low noise and low rotor wear is the claim.

The factory Brembo pad/rotor combo was bad, bad for dust and many owner complained about the squeal. I had new pads and rotors fitted after 1450 Kilometres from new and when I pulled the wheels off 600 klm later to install the C-Teks the rotors were scoring up again.

I pefer my Hawk HP pads. minimal dust and they stop great in wet and dry weather. My EBC when they were not 'warm' or they were wet, would squek like no tomorrow. Not a peep out of my Hawk HPS pads, even with my drilled/slotted rotors.

I have Project Mu NS on my G and love them! Very lil dust and what little there is is silver not black/rust. They should be available for many Japanese cars.

Heh, we must like a lot of the same products! I use the exact same pads, the Akebono ProActs Ceramics on my G35. Got them from Tire Rack for about $110 all around. These made a HUGE difference in brake dust accumulation on my front wheels, and I'm thrilled with that!! My fronts would turn black after a week of driving, and now they are about nearly dirt/dust free. Highly recommended pads! And, they are quiet as a mouse...no squeeking at all.

I did a lot of research on pads before I bought these and I had read some negative things about the Hawk HPS that I didn't particullarly like, so you may want to spend some time reading around to see if they are for you.

ceramic= harder, less brake dust, supposidly less stopping power with cheap brands

metallic- greater stopping power, mad brake dust

semi-metallic- popular, not too much brake dust, good performance.

My Honda van will have little dust on the wheels after 3-400 miles and it has ceramic pads on it.

Yep ceramics are great for low dusting. They are a little harder on the rotors though. I've been using Morse Ceramics from Autozone and have had good success with them.
