Looking to restock.. What to buy?

O RLY?
Well, I'm proud to say it's time for my second ever online product order (hard to believe, huh?). So far, the only abrasive polish I've used is SSR2.5. It's a wonderful product, it does everything it claims to do, but the stuff dusts like there's no tomorrow. I was doing a black Q45 yesterday and when I tilted the PC to get around a trim piece, SSR2.5 dust (I'll call it that) came flying out from under the pad like sawdust. It got into cracks and was a big pain to get out. For the record, I'm not bashing PB products, just explaining why I want a low-dusting polish. This time around, I want something a little more aggressive that doesn't dust much or at all. What do you suggest?

Thanks!

I generally find it easier to tape trim etc.. with painter's or auto body tape when compounding, then dust does not get in places that are hard to clean up.

As JeffM said Optimum really cuts down on the dusting issue but it is more along the lines of SSR2, maybe even between 2 and 2.5 but definately as aggressive as 2.5. While the Megs polishes do not dust quite as much, like #83, I find them less user friendly and just about as aggressive. The Menzerna line is more geared for rotary usage and although it does not dust as much as the SSRs it still does dust a bit, plus I really dont see using PG (somewhere between SSR2.5 and 3) with a PC which is what you are looking for. Others I have tried and no longer use would be the Pinnacle line, 3M, and Presta, IMO there are better options out there when it comes to polishes. Your best bet would be to either stick it out with the dusting of the Poorboys or give the Menzerna a shot; either way you are sacrificing performance in one area to gain performance in another. There really is no one super polish that is aggresive while not dusting and at the same time is user friendly with the PC.

I had another chance to use the new DP medium swirl remover. Very little dust, perhaps over worked on my part, or because im in flrorida...

I dont know if their super swirl remover dusts though. I too am looking for a less dusty polish....

BTW the DP MSR is real easy on trim to, wipes off with some S&W.

Thanks a lot guys. Mtwedt, it's funny that you mentioned the tape. I use the neon green 3M auto painting tape to mask off chrome and rubber trim. Perhaps I should actually think next time and tape off the areas the dust goes in! Brilliant! :lol

Back to the polishes. I realize that not having a rotary puts me at a slight disadvantage when it comes to polish choice. I've been dying to try the Powergloss Menzerna line, but again, those are made for rotary usage. What I'll probably end up doing is buying the SSR 2.5 or maybe 3 again and deal with the dust until I feel the need to get a rotary.

I'll do some research on the polishes you guys recommended. Thanks again!
