Looking to Do a Quick Polish and Wax on a Black Car

I have a repainted 96 Camaro with black paint that is in good shape. It only leaves the garage on sunny days in the summer.



A few years ago I went through the whole process of Menzerna Intensive Polish, Final Polish II, Red Moose Machine Glaze, and Natty's Blue Paste Wax with my Porter Cable. The car came out great. My only complaints were the extreme amount of time required and the amount of dust the Menzerna produced. The paint has stayed in good shape since then with exception of some minor swirling from washing.



I am looking to freshen the car up before I get it out of storage this year. It definitely does not need complete paint correction like I did last time. I would would like to do one or two passes of polish and one or two coats of wax. I don't have a lot of time to spend doing this.



Could someone recommend some polish, wax, and pads that will help me get this done fairly quickly with no dusting. I have 5" and 3.5" backing plates for my PC.

If the clear on your F-body is as hard at that on my B-bodies from that era, you might find that the "minor swirling" takes some fairly aggressive work after all.



If you don't have the time to do a full correction (even if it's a "mild correction"), I wonder how it'd look if you just did the RMG :think:



Can't really help with the "low dust polish", nothing seems to dust as much as the products I grew up with! I'm actually a little surprised that the Menzerna dusts too much for you...that FPII might be hard to replace, at least with regard to finding something with such nice finishing that's also so mild.

The whole car was repainted professionally back in 2005 so the clear is pretty easy to fix. I had it pretty much perfect the last time I did it. It really doesn't need much right now. Just a good cleaning and shining. I was thinking something along the lines of the Red Moose Glaze. Not sure if mine is any good any more. Is the Black Hole Glaze from Poor Boys any good? Kind of got away from detailing for a couple years. I didn't know if there has been any hot new products or pads everyone has been using.
 
I'd give it a shot with your final polish II and a medium polish pad or heavy polish pad. Just do about a quarter of your hood and see how it looks. You might get some pretty good results with just that if you only have minor swirling! Dusting - people complain about that a lot, but I haven't found the menzerna products to dust amuch. I guess its all relative. Anyway, just get a can of compressed air to blow our the cracks and wash the car after polishing, some dusting shouldn't be a big deal.
