Looking for opinions on new car detail

L&I Detailing

I just picked up my new BMW 3-series coupe in black of course yesterday and am gonna give a good once over. Ive done this 100s of times but still looking for opinions.

I was gonna test with some clay to see if it picks anything up and if it needs it continue if not move on. Then probably hit it with a light polish and finish it off with p21-s.

Just wanna hear what others think.

Thanks - Austin

Agreed on the claying. It is amazing how much contamination a new car can pick up in shipping and transport. P21s is a great wax, if you are going to apply it (and the paint doesn't need polishing) then consider using their Paint Cleansing Lotion first. It will ensure maximum adhesion and durability, and IMO, really wets the paint for a deep look.

IMHO, hit it with IronX. You will be surprised at how much contaminants cars pick up when bing shipped over in crates.

After the Iron X, then clay. Your surface will be fully decontaminated and ready for what ever is next!

What you've laid out is perfect for a new car. The light polish or a paint cleaner are going to do about the same IMO. What it will do is level any minor imperfection in the clear and set yourself up for a good LSP.

The only thing that I would add is a glaze like Poorboys World Black Hole. It will add POP to that black car big time.

Thanks beemerboy I was planning on a glaze too hopefully the weather will get better here in NY and ill be able to take care of it.

On black, I ususally hit the top surfaces with Zaino, just for durability. Summer's coming and those black cars get HOT.
