Looking for a tire protectant without the shine

I have a spare tire on my Jeep Wrangler that is always exposed. I want to protect the tire, but I am not really interested in the shine. Does anyone have any recommendations for such?

I`ve put natural look on spare tires that are exposed on the back

it just gives a slight sheen, never tried DG or HD mentioned above but probably great choices as well

what about something like optiseal? would that work

Buy a tire cover. Unless you wipe the dressing over the entire tire since it is 100% exposed.

Tire dressing isnt protection, its just an oil or some crap that washes off in the rain. Just like an interior dressing isnt really protecting anything from the sun.

For protection you need a tire coating, like Tuff Shine. And even then it may not actually protect anything.

Blackfire Total Eclipse tire gel is another good one that is not to glossy. I would consider McKee`s 37 tire Coating and just coat the tire as it lasts much longer than a tire gel.

I think Ron nailed it, a cover. Of course you want the tire to look good if it needs to be used so there is still the dressing/protectant.

Thanks for the suggestions! A cover will not work as I have a license plate in the center of the wheel which I am not willing to relocate. I would most likely cover the entire tire with the protectant.

get the tire cover and cut out what you need to custom fit your plate ... sacrifice the cover for the longevity of the tire

The (exposed) tread gives me pause- gotta treat/coat that for it to look OK, but then that [stuff] is on your contact patch should the
spare be used...

303 just doesn`t last long on an exposed surface. Turtle Wax used to make a great tire coating (not the one in the spray can). It lasted for months in the rain and it was not too shiny. If you can find it, Tac Systems makes a great tire coating that is not shiny at all and is long lasting. I use it but actually like my tires to have a medium shine like the Turtle Wax gives.

Unless a vehicle is parked outside 24/7 or there`s some other extreme environmental factor, I question whether superb UV protection is all that necessary. I parked vehicles outside 24/7 for years and never had any problems with the tires/exterior rubber going bad and I wasn`t using anything UV-protection-centric on such stuff.

Duragloss 531

That stuff is awesome. But I love the 265 as well. It even works well on my wheels. Beautiful clean look on them. On the tires I have a nice Matte finish which I love. But around my area both products are becoming hard to fine. Lots of places will carry them anymore.
