Long scratch!

I think my mechanic did this:mad: Wasn't there before I brought it to the mechanic. Its a really long scratch and I can feel it with my fingernail. What should I use to at least make it look less noticeable without removing a lot of paint? Here's some pics:

Looks like a job for ScratchX. That should help if anything will. You just apply it to a clean towel or paper towel and rub it on in the direction of the scratch. If that can be taken out by hand then ScratchX is the stuff to use. You can get it just about everywhere you can get car care stuff. Its a black tube that has a red X on it. Pretty easy to spot.

General detailing consensus... if you can put your fingernail in the scratch it can NOT be removed.. it means that the scratch has gone passed the clearcoat and paint down to the primer..

I dunno about that.... Describe a scratch that you can't feel with your fingernail. Light scratches that haven't gone clear through the clear coat can still be removed. Just because you can feel it doesn't necessarily mean that it has gone so deep you can't repair it.

Buick Grand Nationals don't have clearcoat, they are a single stage paint.

The corn starch remedy only works for single stage paint right? I can't see it working on a clear coat. You'd have to go past the clear coat to get to the paint, and you don't want to eliminate your clear. Thoughts? :nixweiss
