When I log in, I check the "remember me" box.
Upon return, whether it's an hour or a day, I am requested to log in again.

What's the secret?

Are you blocking cookies? You may need to make an exception for DC's cookie to be stored.

Yep if you don't accept the cookie you will not be able to save the login.

I was accepting cookies, but then realized you need to un-check *cookies* in the Clear History option.
