The Driver
Detailers Workshop
It all started a month ago when we got one of those trade in offers. Looked at the fake check an thought ok, let just take a look an see. Well, we looked around an didn't find anything in MB's line up (The new interiors are not our taste). So we took a ride to Audi, we've always had an eye for the new A7. Overall sharp car but to me was underpowered an too new at the time, fear for quirks we dismissed it back in 2012. This time though, the quirks have been worked out an the lot has opened up. We checked out the ALL the Audi's here an found a couple but nothing in the color we wanted. After a week of searching, it seemed hopeless.
Then it appeared! The exact color combo, exact wheel specs, exact interior an exact tech specs! All for an insane deal! One catch, 900 miles and only 72 hours to pick it up. I was up for the challenge! The car was an incredible deal, so much so they had 3 other buyers will to drive from other states that day. However, knowing what was at stake, I got a hold of the service manager mins before they opened (Due diligence) an got us first in line. He explained that we had to till the end of the day to put a deposit and 72 hours to get it as they were clearing out inventory asap. I told him you have a deal, he asked where I was coming from, I told him NY, he simply replied... wow, see ya soon.
Oh an one other catch, no flying?! We arranged to trade in our ML. So I had 900 miles to cover in 2 days, (took a day to arrange hotels and set up everything). The next day I hit the road, Car charger, Chex mix, hotel booked. Day 1 was 7 hours even (Stopped in Ohio) an Day 2 was 6 hours an 20 mins. The dealership was nice enough to make arrangements at the Thomson, it was awesome to have a pool an gym after being coup'd up for 12 hours alone. The rest of the group cheated an flew in for pick up. That night we all went to Gibson's, which is my new favorite steak house bar none.
Pretty nifty hotel!

The next morning we walked around the corner from the Thomson, finalized the paper work an hit the road! Here's the vid of it in the delivery area! The car in question isn't an A7 but a 2014 S7!
2014 Phantom Black, Black Diamond stitched sport seats, Alcantara W/Carbon V8 Bi-turbo 7 speed Dual Clutch!

From the second I got my hands on it, it was time to start the crazy detailers regiment. Step one, get it protected for the 900 mile high speed assault on the front facia. Did this by doing a full 3m defender spray over 3/4 up the hood line. I'll admit, I SOAKED it way more then I needed to but knowing how far an long we were traveling it was a must.
This shot was taken as I was stripping it off when we got it home. I used plastidip remover an it literally melted off the car into this goup.

Stripping down!

As my friend calls it... The circus fun mirror package! Shing!

Typical diso's + Car washing waves!

These bugged me, the car must have been backed up into a bush or something wirey. There about 30-50 deep scratches on the front doors an rear fenders where annihilated.

After compounding...

Pillars are a great indicator of proper care... these definitely had a story to tell.

Some pretty mean paint means some pretty tools...

The other side, even more ripped up. Again massive scuffing.

All over the whole fender.

More Deep ones + Swirl city.

Discovering more deeper scratches in between the swirls, look closely. It was pretty bad.

Ugh, part 1 done. FG400 + FF3000 + Blackfire Fire over Ice combo (BFWD + BFMS). Now she's prepped for Phil @ Detailers Domain for round 2!!!
