Lights, please

My garage is 150' form the house (actually from house breaker to garage) ((it wasn't my idea))

In the winter as the temp goes down--lose flourescent like crazy--any suggestions to ave enough lites thru the winter--T8 vs. T12s; winter bulbs??

You've got to use the hi output bulbs...they're much better in the cold weather. I find them at home depot, etc.

you need to make sure you have high output fixtures as well. the ballast and end sockets are different. when you buy the bulbs, make sure to get the high outputs rated for cold temperature (the bulbs should have the designation ho/ct). both the ho ballasts and bulbs are rated for much lower starting temps, and will last much longer.

The hanging T8 twin bulb fixtures are around $6.00 plus $4.00 for bulbs at the Home Despot. They're so cheap and efficient, that I hung a dozen of them in my cold basement and never had a problem with them.
