Light scratches on BMW wood trim.

Hi,

I have a few light scratches which are only visible under direct light on my BMW wood. To me, looks like the BMW wood has a layer of coating, either plastic or clear coat over the real wood. If you have any experience with removing scratches on wood that are light, especially BMWs, then can you please recommend me a product that I can use to get rid of those scratches? Can you also post the directions to use the product if possible.

Thanks!! :2thumbs:

I haven't corrected such stuff on Bimmers (at least that I can recall), but mildly abrasive polishes have worked OK on Audis, Benzes and other vehicles. Gotta be careful though as the clear coating is almost always rather soft and quite thin. To be honest, I've pretty much quit polishing such finishes, at least to the point of near-perfection....subsequent remarring seems to be inevitable.

Just treat it like paint, using stuff you'd use for by-hand correction; a mild SMR on a MF towel would be a good starting point. Then apply some LSP to provide a sacrificial layer (not that it's likely to protect against scratches/etc. but at least it'll make the next cleanup easier.

I actually started doing this exact detail work this weekend on my 325 bmw

U need to order two products, 30$ or so and simply follow directions. The products are menzema intensive polish and final polish II. Also you will need a wax of ur choice to finish the job. Use the intensive polish to hand compound the wood, buff of residues and do the same thing with the polish. These are advanced german products used to take out imerfections in the clearcoat. U can do ur own research on the net for more info good luck.
