Lexus Dealer (oc)needs Detailer

I spoke to Phil this afternoon. We will be meeting soon. Dealer work isn't my cup of tea but we both think we can work something out.

I happen to be detailing a 2005 LS430 when we spoke - :waxing:

Just like a dealer.

If this guy is like 99% of car dealers, he won't be willing to pay you a fair rate for the work you would do for him. Even if it is a Lexus Dealer.

Yea man screw it if thats the case. I worked for a resale detailer and aside from seeing absolutly horrible things done with rotaries they didnt pay me skit. Charge him your rates since they will be making large money off these vehicles. If not, play on playa

They recently built a new showroom floor at their dealership, and possibly a multi-level parking lot in the back IIRC?. It used to be a small lot (think Used car sales lot) and now it's fairly large, so I buy his story that they probably can't handle all the business that they're getting now. I have quite a few family members from my wife's side that are in the car business and their schedule can be quite long and hectic most days.

Whether they'll pay the prices Joe wants is another story. Stealerships are about profit so they're probably not looking for autopian level work or price, and considering how many hacks we have around here in SoCal, I wouldn't be surprised if he already found a guy willing to do the work for next to nothing.

IMO, the detailing done at dealers is of such low quality (I would not call their detailers"professionals") that it would probably be best not to even associate yourself with one. If you are an autopian, why would you want your reputation tainted by working for a dealer that won't even pay for your high quality work.
