Let's just say my sister spilled bleach...

on my rear seat, and left it there overnight.

When I got the car the next morning I could smell it... and the carpet was eaten thru.

How much would it cost to repair, or replace the upholstery/faux carpeting on the car? The carpet mats are okay, but anything under them behind my passenger seat is destroyed :(

First off, don't let your sister in that car again, or the RX-8 for that matter. :D

What kind of car is it? You could go to the dealer and get reamed on the price, or look into aftermarket carpet suppliers. I think Automotive Custom Carpets is one manufacturer, but I'm not sure. I'll see what I can find.

*edit* Here are a couple of sites I found:

AutoCarpets.com

Car-Carpet.com

If it's on the seat, you not only have to replace the fabric, but also the foam underneath it, as the bleach will eat that up pretty badly too. It might not shown right away, but in a few weeks, you will see that the spot where the bleach was spilt will sag. :(

man,

that really sucks!

I hope that if your sister is over 16, that she expects to pay for every penny of damage done to your car. . .

so sorry to hear that your sister is no longer with us.... :(

now what the cost will be, depends totally on how much area was dammaged and also what kind of car it is. Good luck, nonetheless. :D

On a 98 Mazda Millenia.. it didn't touch the seats, but rather the footwells under the seat and behing the passenger seat.

I have rubber mats over it right now but it's discolored in some areas, and missing completely in others.

Well, shucks. No, not in NJ. :(

But last month my partner-in-crime and I recarpeted the red coupe. Found carpet thru ebay. Took out the seats and console, and went at it. Looks pretty darn good.
