Leatherique....WOW!

Just One More Coat
Over the weekend I had the chance to really use this product as it states on the web site....I applied the Pristine clean to the seats, covered them up with some big plastic storage bags and left in the sun to get hot....went back about two hours later and wiped them down then applied another coat...I started to see a lot of dirt coming to the surface, it was also quite hard to use the MFT as they where really hard to wipe the surface, so I used some older terry towels, those worked better....

Then I applied the rejuvenator oil....let soak in for about an hour applied another three coats over the rest of the afternoon, while I worked on a customers car....The seats are really soft and about as clean as I think that they can get...the one thing that stood out for me was what I thought was cracks in the leather was dirt in them and that came out..making the leather look much better....

All in all I was really impressed with the product to say the least

Any before and after pics?

I didn't take pics I don't think they would have showed much....the leather is light sand in color and to the surface was not that dirty...the dirty was embedded in the seats and that's what leatherique lifted out...it was more about the feel of the leather once done that impressed me...much different from any other leather conditioner that I have used

i wonder if you can do the bag thing with say lexol leather cleaner or some other leather cleaner. any thoughts?

I don't know as I have never heard of covering up the seats with plastic before like they suggest...this product is much different than Lexol in its texture, smell and feel on the leather...unlike anything that I have used before

I've done the bag thing with Zymol leather conditioner, but never the cleaner. The heat will makes the pores open up.

Zymol conditoner actually suggets to use something to heat the seats first...I think the instructions say that. I am suprised not to see that on more leather conditioners.

I just read the whole thread on coated and uncoated leather and how to clean and condition it so my question is.... Leatherique is for coated leather ???
I have an 09 Lexus that I want to do everything right from the start. I heard Leatherique is great stuff but it sounds like it must have oils in it. Will it be save to use?

Leatherique is a great product but on new leather I think that its over kill...your leather is top coated and any decent leather cleaner and conditioner would be good on it...PB leather stuff would be my choice on that...its what I use on my BMW...I do use the leatherique once a year but my car is a 99....Leatherique is a deep cleaning and restoration product designed to bring leather back to life...the rejuvenator oil would be OK to use on your leather as long as you buffed after but really a good leather conditioner would surface IMO on new leather

Beemerboy, I know this was posted back in 08/07 and you wrote that you applied Pristine Clean first. I thought the Oil was the first step that pushes or pulls the dirt out. I've used Leatherique in the past and love it, but does using Pristine Clean first helps gets the leather cleaner?

I'm still trying to resurrect the leather in my '87 benz, and Leatherique is what I'm using. For starters, the seats never saw any real attention before I got the car last year, so I used the Pristine Clean first to take off the visible surface crud. Then I'd apply the Rejuvinator Oil to start the deep cleaning. Plastic bags help with the "greenhouse effect" as far as sweating out the seats, and also allows you to move the car around while the oil does it's thing. Again, I still have a lot of work ahead: after two applications about 3 months apart, the seats are just starting to soften up. :(
