leather products with lanolin

If I have treated/finished leather, will lanolin do anything to preserve or make the leather supple? Is this just a marketing term? My understanding is since the leather is clearcoated, the lanolin won't get absorbed making it useless. This would also apply if a product contained mink oil or whatever.

I wouldn't go out of my way to use a product wiht lanolin, especially like you say, on coated leather, I don't see the benefit of it for that. Save it for hand moisturizers.
