Leather Dye transfer

What product do you use for preventing leather dye, (like from blue jeans) from tranfering to leather seats. I was told to use a product that has a coating, oppossed to using a conditioner. Thanks, Gary

~One man’s opinion~

Unlike paint leather does breath, and needs both cleaning and conditioning. Most conditioners provide some protection from stains I’m not sure what ‘coating’ product you had in mind, but I think sometimes coating is another word for sealing, and with leather that’s not good.

I’ve found the best way to clean leather is with a water/ Woolite or Dreft 1:5 solution

~Hope this helps~

Thanks for the response, upon further investigation, the product I need has a non-curing silcone base, similar to what they use to water proof shoes/purses etc, however it has idfferent properties for automotive leather, but the concept is the same. it does put a thin later on TOP of the leather opposed to conditioners that penetrate. I ordered some, will post the results when I try it out, Gary
