Leather Care

I have an 03 Acura TL with 40k and im starting to see some serious cracks in my leather. Especially the front seats. Any suggestions on a good leather cleaner? Maybe something that'll help keep the seats from cracking or at least delay the process?

Lexol makes a good conditioner. Its not the greatest in looks and feel, but the conditioning properties of it are well regarded, IMO. Lexol Conditioner is sold over the counter at most auto care stores.

A great leather cleaner is a mixture of Woolite and Water. This mixture is also great at cleaning vinyl. I have seen mixing ratios as low and high as 8:1 and 1:1. I use it at about 3:1 (H20:Woolite).

I second what Driven advised above...

In addition, I really like Pinnacle Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. It is water based so I cut it 2 parts Pinnacle 1 part water to thin it a little and put in a spray bottle. That helps is spray and spread because it is a little thick right out of the bottle. Non-greasy and leave a great soft feel with good scent.

Both recommendations are great as I use both of them. My benchmark has always been Pinnacle but now I use Chemical guys Conditioner that has really impressed me (nice slight leather smell too). The main cleaners I use are Woolite (5:1) and Chemical Guys leather cleaner (stronger than Pinnacles but still PH balanced).

Zaino's Leather in a Bottle, or Leatherique.

I used Lexol for years, and frankly found it ineffective on auto leather. The cleaner is weak, and the conditioner left the leather very sticky.

Zaino's Leather cleaner works very well, and I could not beleive the amount of gunk that came off the leather that I had been using Lexol cleaner on previously.

Chemical Guys leather cleaner + conditioner

Andrew, or anyone else who has used CG's Leather Products

Have you used Zaino's Leather products before? I love using them but if Chemical Guys' products are similar or at least perform equally I would be more than willing to switch over especially because of the price!

Does it have a distinct leather smell? My customers really like what Zaino Z10 leaves behind. Thanks for the help!

I have not used Z10 but the CG Conditioner does have a leather scent...some love it and some hate it. I don't mind it at all. Hope this helps...

Well I think I will be going with the Chemical Guys then on my next order! Now that Im getting busier I need to be more aware with my product costs and buying in bulk..Z10 just can't get me through anymore :( Thank you Andrew!

AWWW, Andrew beat me to it :o

I have tried/still use z10. They are both very good, and imho gave me the very similar results. I too switched to CC for the gal availability/price/quality ratio.

Another tip, try Duragloss- there conditioner (haven't tried the cleaner) is quite similar in performance as well - very good, locally available, leather scent, another favorite of mine.

I am currently also using the Duragloss leather products and completely forgot they are sold in bulk form so that is what Im going to go with since I already know they perform just like Zaino IMO. And just for reference, the cleaner works great as well. Thanks guys...sorry for hi-jacking the thread

I have had success with Turtle Wax Leather Conditioner and Cleaner. I didn't think the seats looked too dirty, but I used some of this and the towel picked up a lot of dirt. Leaves the seats nice, not too greasy.
