Hey folks, can you guys give some good advice on products to use for the leather seats in my mach 1 mustang, i dont want a greasy feel i want it to clean but keep them protected and not dry out.

I'd prefer OTC if I can, but Im open to others aswell because my father and me are planning on ordering a PC kit and detailing aresonal to start out with.

Thanks, Joey

It won't dry out. I like Duragloss leather products for OTC. Look for them at NAPA and Carquest. I usually like to just keep leather clean, maybe just use the DG cleaner (441 I think) and skip the conditioner, though it does smell good. There are other good cleaners available, but I can't think of any that are OTC.

Duragloss #441, Duragloss LS (Leather Shampoo)

Clean: Woolite diluted 10:1

Protect: 303 Aerospace protectant

You can find both over the counter.

Thanks guy, I think I'm going to stay away from most of the OTC stuff. I was really wanting to get some 303 but my local NAPA does not carry it anymore, I got him to look into getting me some prices if he can get me some so hope that goes over.

Where else can I look for products on detailing I only know autogeek.net, I am still new to this and learning everyday.

Go to the Autopia product site and type in a product that you wan't and it will tell you which online retailers carry it.

Thanks for the help, I will check out a marine store. How often should I try to clean and protect the leather in my car?

For my 03 GT, I use Optimum Leather Protectant. The same type of black leather your car has.

when to apply it?

It depends on how much the chair is used. If no one sits in the backseat, then it will not need to be applied as often as the front driver. I also use it on the leather on the shifter and park brake.

Whats mods do you have on it?

Thanks for all the help guys. I did find the 303 at a Marine store. I need to go buy some MF towels, or order some Ive heard some people say not to use the ones they sell at Walmart. The paper towels really dont cut it. * I know I know*

But I do have another question, what can I do to get wax off some of the plastics, I got a little bit on my chin spoiler and shaker, but I went out last night and bought some masking tape to use from now on, and mothers back to black but it didnt take the wax off like I hoped.

Oh, and 89gt, the mods are 1/2" intake spacer, jlt rai, 98 cobra cams, accufab tb, bbk lt's bbk h pipe, mgw shifter. I know I'm missing something I'm losing track as I go haha. It laid down SAE corrected 322/326. I'm about to order a catback to finish the exhuast and have it tuned and then run the dyno again, I'm hoping I can hit 340. And from there I will probably some form of F/I or build a motor so I can run some bigger boost!

I have used the following on my GT leather, and the grades I would give them

Lexol Conditioner A-

Zaino Leather A

303 C did not like the way it made the leather feel

Optimum Leather B+
