LC 6" vs 7.5"

dan:

Actually, the 6" P-C backing plate I got from TOL is very flexible and "squishy". The foam on the pad is very resilient and I've never had the back side of a pad get cut-up, even a 6" pad which is not recomended for use with a 6" plate.

Perhaps the 6" LC pads don't get damaged 'cause I don't run the PC over 5 & I don't apply much pressure to the PC. I let the weight of the PC + pad + product do the work and I'm just a "tour guide".

I also have the 6" backing plate that came with the CMA kit and I prefer the P-C backing plate.

NYV6Coupe,

Interesting... I've used my 6" pads with my PC at 6. No problems. I suspect that this will remain one of the unsolved mysteries of the world.

In any case, I still like my 7.5" pads better. The thin plastic lining between the Constant Pressure foam and the velcro seems to make a difference.

Regards,

Dan.

If you bought the 7424 with the smaler counterweight, then you'll have a problem with the larger pads. I have the 7336 with the larger counterweight and have NO problems with the 7.5" CMA pads.

Regards,

Dan.

I have the 7336 with 6" counterweight. I presumed that by defination of its name the countername was made to be used with 6" pads and because I was using 7.5" thats where my vibrations were coming from. I have just ordered the Sonus set from Autopia so I'll report back with my findings.

Not quite. The 6" counterweight is designed to be used with 6" and larger pads. The 5" countterweighte is designed to be used with 6" pads and smaller.
