laundry soaps that contain bleach alternatives

I don't see the need. I use the same "boutique" variety I use for my actual laundry. No issues, colors and fabrics retain their color with no wearing of the fabrics. Occasionally on very soiled cloths, some have used a capful, maybe less, of APC or even Murphy's Oil Soap with good results. I've tried it and worked well for me but it's very rare that I would need to do this.

Bill D, thanks for the reply. What I meant was do people think this would harm microfiber since it contains bleach alternatives? In my opinion I kind of doubt it, but I wanted to get some feedback.

I don't see it doing anything useful. Chlorine and oxygen bleaches are useful for removing stains, but stains aren't an issue for detailing cloths.

I've used plain old liquid Tide, I drop in some simple green for the really nasty stuff. In either case I don't use much just to make sure it rinses out completely.

I think as long as it is liquid and rinses out you should be okay. Any residues will just ruin all the hard work you put in.

I use dish wash for the first wash, after that I wash it again just with water so it rinses better.

Been working for me nicely.

Good question my Meguiar’s Water Magnet Drying Towels and Waffle-Weave Drying Towel are stiff as well, but still absorbent.

Funny I wash above the same way as Elite Microfiber Towels which are as soft as they were when I bought them.

I read somewhere washing in hot water may help - any one can confirm that?

Try adding some vinegar to the fabric softener dispenser, or just add to the final rinse. About a teaspoon per towel, I just eyeball it. It does wonders for softening up stiff towels. Folded my soft towels about an hour ago...

Dont worry, they wont smell of vinegar. Also consider using less detergent, what you describe sounds like too much was used. Although many say its not worth it I swear by Micro Restore detergent.

Try the vinegar and less detergent, two rinses, bet it helps.

Good luck

PS: also does wonders on your household towels...

I really don't see the need in using detergents with bleach alternatives however they really shouldn't cause any harm. Using bleach on the other hand (sodium hypochlorite) could be damaging to the fabrics due to the nature of the chemical.

I use regular detergent with vinegar in the fabric softener container and it works well.

All I really use on all my towels including WW is Dawn or a generic liquid wash detergent they sell here that has no perfumes or whiteners in it .

None of mine have hardened at all ..
