This is my Dad's 2004 Honda Accord. His birthday was last week and due to my trip to see my son up at his school, I didn't make it back in time for the party. In addition, I was going to use his garage to detail the upcoming G35 so I figured I'd toss a coat of wax on his car.
He went ahead and washed it before I got there, and had just begun to dry it using terry cloth towels. The car was covered in water beads so I told him to stop, removed the nozzle from the hose (he ran out of QEW) and ran the water over the car, and about 90% of the water sheeted off. I then got out a waffle weave microfiber and another plush mf and showed him how to dry it off that way. Took him less than 10 minutes, and he seemed really glad to find a much faster way to dry the car.
I simply applied a coat of Collinite 845 Insulator Wax by hand.
I was just finishing up when the G35 showed up and as the sun hit the car, I could see a multitude of drying streaks and some scuffs on the paint. He asked me to pull out all the stops and make it as black and wet as possible.
I started with Optimum Polish and followed with Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze, then moved on to Clearkote's Vanilla Moose, all using Meguiars polishing pads. I then sealed it with Collinite 845. I finished right before dusk, so I am amazed the pics came out as good as they did. Probably should have closed the garage door when shooting the rear of the car though...
