Latest details, vLast detail of my Accord, plus Nattys over Souveran

I detailed my Accord one last time so it would be easier to sell. Went over the whole interior with water and Woolite and dressed the vinyl with Meguairs D-170 Hyper Dressing cut 2:1 with water. Those dark areas near the gas pedal and where the console meet the carpet are not dirt, just the way the carpeting was laying. If it isn't all brushed the same way, some spots look dark. Oh well. Those two spots on the front seat would not come out.

I detailed the exterior using Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze and a polishing pad, and then applied NXT Tech Wax with a polishing pad. The front end was repainted about 4-5 years ago, the rest of the car's paint is the original paint applied in January of 1990 when the car was built.

Here are a couple of cars I wash/wax about 3-4 times a year. I used Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba with a polishing pad and topped with Meguiars #16.

2001 Mazda Miata

Natty's over Souveran. It had been nearly a month since I had used Souveran on the Rolls, but it still looked really good. Topping with Natty's didn't really add any depth but the increase in 'wetness' was noticable.

I know the pics are a touch dark, it was getting near dusk when I finished the Rolls and pulled it out.

It had been a few weeks since I had last put Souveran on my car, tried Nattys after a QEW wash. Like the Rolls, it was getting near dusk when I finished. Going to be a worsening problems as the days continue to shorten. :(

Took this pic a few days later when I detailed the Q45 and Miata. I had a little more light this time.

I was waiting for these pics :)

Very hard to believe the Honda's paint is almost 15 years old... Buyer lucked out there :D

That Rolls looks mean as folk. That sun going down pic really looks crazy.

626 looks great as usual. Any plans of a new product combo for it or are you leavin it be for now? :lol

Again, always nice to see your work.

Sean-after I finished the Rolls, the owner noticed the back end was sitting a couple inches higher than normal (some type of adjustable ride height) so he invited me along for a ride to see if driving it would restore the normal height. Anyway, as we were driving along, a couple of cheerleaders were standing by their car and when they noticed the Rolls, they practically wet themselves! He said that was a normal reaction to the car.

BTW, that sucker is SOLID!

My next combo will probably be NXT x 2 and #16 x 2. We've had some pretty wet winters and I'd like to see how well this combo will stand up. Maybe add a sacrificial layer of Souveran or Nattys. :nixweiss

:bow . An amazingly detailed Phantom...Not much touches that. I believe it about the cheerleaders. How is the owner? Sounds like a baller :) . How quick is the car? Also, my friend told me the black R's in the middle of the wheel don't move at all. The stay perfectly straight and readable when driving...this true?

Sounds like a good combo coming up...Extremely wet looking for the wet winter :)

Any new updates on the Hyper Dressing?

The owner owns several topless clubs, a tattoo parlor and recently opened a bar called "Hot Rods and Harleys" :xyxthumbs

The Rolls has a turboed V12 with 453 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque and a 7 speed automatic. He didn't get on it, but he did prod the gas pedal a bit and the copious amount of torque was very evident!

The "RR" in each wheel does stay straight up as the wheels spin. Pretty cool.

If #16 can make that aqua Miata glow like that, it can certainly do it on black!

I'm probably going to go with 3:1 ratio of water to Hyper Dressing. It leaves a very nice sheen and brings the effective cost down to about $9 per gallon.

Thanks for the pics and combinations, Scott.

Miata's have such nice colors. The Rolls! A beautiful job on a beautiful machine. Natty's over Souveran. How do you come up with these combinations? It was great therapy for me to see these after a LONG day.

Tonight...third car today...I've been de-tarring a neglected badly swirled five year old white Dodge Intrepid just back from killing every bug from Colorado to El Paso. Finally finished the wash, clay, tape and it's garaged for later. Can't wait to get after the Taco Sauce on the carpets. Time to hit the shower...

Some guys get the Rolls :) and some guys get the Grits.:(

STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER! I know Scottwax's work is amazing, but a triple post. You must be in shock!

GO OUTSIDE AND TAKE SEVERAL DEEP BREATHS, then don't visit autopia for 24 hours. You should be recoved by then:D

LOL . . . I cleaned up the duplicate posts. -- Tort

KUDOS Scott, simply amazing!

Sweet work! I just ordered some Poorboy's w/Carnuba. Hope it comes out looking as nice as your work (yea, right. wishful thinking!). Anyways, I really enjoy your pictures & the massive collection on your site.

As a newb, I keep wondering how different it would look if Scottwax used only cheap stuff, such as a Meg's cleaner wax or NuFinish followed by Turtle Wax lsp.

I bet it would still look better than the work of 90% of detailers.

Scott, if you have ever done a hood half/half (supermkt stuff on one side, boutique on the other) and have pics, I'd love to see them.

Always in awe,

The carpet in the accord looks to have a nice pile and probably easy to vac and clean.

Eric

You are very right. Even though it had been at least 2 years since I really detailed the interior (other than wiping down the dash and console and dressing the vinyl), pretty much everything cleaned up nicely.

mgm121499-Just follow the directions on the bottle. That is what I do. If you use a PC, use a polishing pad (for the polish w/carnauba). If you are getting the EX w/carnauba, make sure the paint is properly prepped, put on a thin coat, wait 10-15 minutes and remove the excess. Couldn't be easier to use.

jvcn-I used off the shelf products when I first started, mostly Wax Shop, Duragloss and Dupont #5 Polish (I think that is the right name). A customer of mine requested I use Meguiars on his car and about two weeks later at the Dallas Auto Show, there was a professional Meguiars distributor with a display and I started buying my products there.

Anyway, with just regular products anyone could purchase, I got pretty good results, most likely because I followed the manufacturer's directions and didn't try to rush through each detail. I think that is the mistake a lot of people make when polishing and waxing. They don't bother to read the directions and simply try to apply and remove as quickly as possible because they hate waxing their car.

As far as side by side pics, hard to say how well the differences would show up on film, even Kodak's High Definition Film. I do think you could do a very good job using Meguiars Cleaner Wax and topping with a generic paste wax on paint in decent condition.

carcrazy22-Wolfgang polish and SG x 2 on the washing machine and #80 and NXT on the dryer.

Scott,

The Accord looks like olive oil poured over it... Great wetness :up

The Rolls is amazing... All that and you find the most interesting owner I've heard of.
