Latest details, v.My new (to me) car

Yes, I finally decided to get something new. After 8 1/2 years of no car payments, I am now paying off a 1999 Mazda 626 to the bank of Dad. Couldn't pass up the car, good price, 4% interest and the previous two owners are family.

I have detailed a few times over the last 6 months, so this time, I use Vanilla Moose w/polishing pad and Carnauba Moose Wax by hand. My Accord had been polished out pretty well in early April, so my son put a coat of Stuf Carnauba on it. Said it was the easiest waxes he has ever used.

These two pics are a bit dark, it was a bit after 8PM when I finished. I took the other two in better light the next day.

2001 Lexus RX300. Paint was decent, so a quick polish using Vanilla Moose and a polishing pad and finished with EX w/carnauba (which is incredibly easy to use in the direct sun). It also has a very rich look on darker colors.

2001 Mercedes E430 Sport. Excellent condition, very minimal cobwebbing. Use Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba and a polishing pad and topped with EX-P which is a great combo on white.

2002 Cadillac STS. It stormed about an hour after I finished this one, so I owe them a quickie wash next time I am in the area. Oh well, better than them cancelling because of weather. Vanilla Moose by hand (no close plug) and Stuf Carnauba.

2002 Nissan Altima. Another detail in the sun, so like the RX300, Vanilla Moose with a polishing pad and EX w/carnauba.

This is the reason my Dad was able to sell his Mazda, his brand new 2004 Honda Accord V6. Very nice car, navigation and even voice command XM radio. Wouldn't let the dealer wax it...heh heh!

Polished with Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba and topped with Meguiars #16 Pro Paste Wax--very, very wet combo!

Last one. 2004 Lexus LS430. Again, the owner made the wise choice and didn't let the dealer wax it. Vanilla Moose with a polishing pad and Meguiars #16. I prefer using either a carnauba paste or Wolfgang Sealant on single stage paints.

THAT is just SICK!

You are setting too high a standard for the rest of us A(utopian)-junkies.......

Nice work Scott! Question, when you work VM by hand, do you use light pressure or heavier pressure like say #80 or 83?

Congrats on the new car! I saw it when it was a mess and you have really bought it back since then...Any modifications planned for it? Where's the Accord going?

Details looks great as usual. I like the VM/EX-C combo on dark cars. I have noticed VM/EX-P on red has seemed to lose against the sun. It kind of drowns the color out too much. I will be sure to purchase some EX-C.

The new Lexus rims are soo much better!

BTW: Do you purchase VM in bulk? You use soo much of it, I don't see why you wouldn't...If so, from where?

Once again we bow to the almighty SCOTTWAX:bow

Gezz, I really have to up the resolution on my pics.. Last ones were 640:rolleyes: on the SC430.

Nice work there Scottso! As always, superb job!

How's the PC now working for you? Next a rotary?

Regards,

Deanski

Awesome work as usual on all the cars. Congrats on the new car. My aunt has a 98 626 in maroon. They are very nice cars. I though it had a good amount of power for a 4 cylinder car and it gets awesome gas mileage, 33 mpg highway.

Anyway good luck with the new car, i'd throw some change in the back seat of it but im quite aways from Texas.

Great job Scott!:xyxthumbs I just recently started using EX-P on customer's and my own vehicle and I must say I am very :shocked with the ease of use, removal, and not to mention the final outlook!!:bow

4.0%? Wow your dad drives a hard bargain! No incentives? :D

He is a good businessman :D

Love the new car Scott...please tell me you are keeping the Accord :bow

Ah, you remember! Yes, it was pretty bad. My brother owned it before my Dad did and I don't think he waxed it once in nearly 2 years....even though I would remind him if he would just have it clean when I come over, I would take care of it.

To refresh everyone's memory, here it is with the rear fender polished out and the rear door yet untouched:

Swirl Free #82 twice and Vanilla Moose on the rear fender....by hand.

Probably front and rear upper strut bars and larger anti roll bars with urethane bushings. Maybe an after market exhaust if I can find a real quiet one. Air intake looks pretty good out of the box, large 3.5" tubing from in front of the battery to the airbox and some foam around the battery to seal out hot underhood air. I need to find a way to stop the ECU from retarding power just prior to an after full throttle shifts (I saw something on a 626 board about it). I know the Contour SVT uses the same engine with mods, so maybe I can use some of that stuff..provided the car stays quiet.

Once I pull the HU, amp and speakers out of the Accord, I am selling it.

I have a gallon, I'll send you some (I have your other stuff ready to go out this week).

I have a local Clearkote distributer who gives me a professional discount.

SpoiledMan-I use moderate pressure and a foam hand pad but I switch to a folded terry cloth towel if I am removing oxidation with VM.

GS-R Jay-I thought about keeping the Accord, but with light front end and hail damage plus a failing clearcoat on the roof and 280,400 miles on it, I better sell it while it still runs good.

Sorry Scott, two different engines. Both 2.5L V6's, but that's about where the similarity ends.

I think the Probe/MX-6 and 626 use the same engine though. Which is probably better for you, as there aren't too many hotrod parts for the Contour engines. You'll probably find a better selection of Probe/MX-6 parts.

But congrats on the "new" car :)

I guess I was wrong, I thought the Contour/MX6/626 and Probe all shared the same 2.5L V.6. I know they all have the alternator buried towards the bottom front of the engine.

Anyway, any mods I do make will keep the car quiet!

as always, nice work. and congrats on your "new" car.

and i don't know, the contour/mx-6/626/probe may share the same motors because ford owns mazda and they do share the same engines for certain lines for both brands. that would be sweet if you could drop in a svt contour motor into your 626. definitely make it faster in getting to your detail jobs! :D

Congrat's Scott on the new adopted 626. I know it found a wonderful home. ;)

That black on the 626 looks extremely classy. :xyxthumbs

Also welcome to the "black car owner's fraternity. :bounce
