Laptop suggestions!

I just bought a Compaq AMD 64 Athlon Laptop, my first laptop! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to maintenance or special care that they could suggest ?!
 
Well like any computer, I would run Windows Update once a month to keep security patches up to date.



Run an anti-virus program like Norton.



Run a firewall program like Norton if your router (if you use one) dones't have a firewall built in.



Download and install both Spybot and Spyware Blaster.



As far as cleaning, a lightly damp MF followed by a dry MF will suffice.

Update the little guy as much as you can and get some spyware removal tools.



Its the old saying "the crooks are ahead of the cops" and with spam and viruses, the saying rings true.



Congrats on the AMD 64, how do you like it so far?

Well, its taking some gettin use to, thats for sure, different key placements, and no "true" number, keypad although there is a dedicated function key for it. Its the larger 15.4 screen, which is nice, its pretty heavy for a laptop though, 8lbs !! But it does have many features, and the weight isnt really an issue, as Im not hiking with it. Spilch, im going to go with MSN's newly aquired Giant Spyware program, i have had great luck with it on the desktop.
