well a guy called me this morning askin for 6 complete details. whats even better is that they are limos. i cant wait to do these

Not to bust your bubble... but limos can be a royal PITA. I used to detail for a limo company, and depending on who the clients were the previous time the limo was rented, it was either easy or a nightmare (Bachelorette parties are the worst!)

but hey, a few hundred bucks apiece makes it all worth it :D

Congrats on the deal!

Amen to that! A local detailer in my area has a deal with the one limo company in town and all of the funeral homes. He gets $400 or more for just a standard Cadillac! But he raises the car up and cleans the underside and everything so you could eat off any part of the car inside, out, or underneathe. It is still good money. Congrats man!

Gonzo is right, limos can be tough if the previous night's customers had way too much to drink. The exteriors really aren't that hard to do since you have a lot of flat surfaces. It is the interior that can be tough. Most have a bar section with a lot of glasses and you need to find out if you are expected to also clean the glasses but you will need to remove them along with any related items to clean the bar area. You also need to take care when cleaning around the TV and stereo equipment to prevent any cleaning fluids getting into the electronics.

If you haven't seen the cars yet, I'd go by there and really look a couple of the over, make sure you understand what the owner expects you to clean and then form a plan of attack. Good luck, limo companies are pretty steady business. :)

I'm just happy to see a limo company that actually wants complete details. I used to work for a hand car wash that had a lot fleet accounts for limos and chauffer vehicles. Of course they wanted their interiors cleaned, but they HARDLY EVER wanted anything done on the exterior. And being black vehicles that weren't washed properly - they all looked like hell. I mean REALLY bad. But apparently the owners didn't care - I only got to talk to the drivers.

well congratulations I hope it works out for you you can see my projects at www.akextremelimo.com we generally do a really basic detail every time the cars go out but thats not the norm for the industry. Genrally the drivers are expected to maintian thier cars wich usually consists of cleaning glassware wiping down the interior, pledging the upholstery and a quick vacuum of the floor mats keep in mind its generally pretty dark in limos and so this will keep them running for quite a while now your job on the other hand will not be quite so easy here are my suggestions:

1) make sure you have lighting that you can use inside the vehicle so you can see what your doing.

2) have plenty of towels or applicators many of these rigs have pleated leather and it seems like everyone who rides in a limo wants to wear glitter wich sticks to your applicator and then redeposits itself.

3) rinse out the ice wells real good (possibly w/bleach water) as wine tends to sit in the drains and smells.

4) wear shoes that slip off and on easily our limos have black carpets and foot prints in a perfect limo stand out like a sore thumb.

5) be carefull to give yourself enough time as you don't want to say it will be done at a certian time and either make them late for a booking or give it back to them less than perfect.

well good luck and keep in mind no disrespect to the other comment but its not likely they want the limos cleaned up from the night before but most likely they want a thorough detail that their drivers can then maintain.

You aren't kidding about that! I clean a privately owned limo every few months and quickly learned how prints show on all that black carpeting.
